Does anyone know the name of the wild palm trees that are close to the ground in Florida? My father-in-law told me they are called Chow Mein Palms but I don't think that accurate....

I am not sure about those wild palms that grow in Florida. They tend to grow all over the low lands. I heard someone call them Ponca Palms. In North Texas and New Mexico there are palms that survive the winter but some people there insist on planting Washingonian's and even Queen's. The Sago's will pretty much grow almost anywhere.

My personal favorite palm is the Royal Palm!
