Consumer Reports tells how and where to recycle electronics, but here is something you might not know. The Sun City Sheriff Posse accepts cell phones (with charger, please) computer cartridges, and American flags. They can be left at the main office - south of Bell on Del Webb, thru Sunland Mortuary. The hours are 9-3 September thru May and 9-12 June, July, & August.
So if I have an old computer or an old phone needing recycled... Can I take them to the Posse and be assured that all my personal information is wiped clean first and then recycled so any information left on by mistake is handled?
The Posse is not a recycling facility. We accept worn out American flags, which are turned over to the American Legion for proper disposal, eyeglasses are given to the Lions Club for use in their program, cell phones and ink cartridges are boxed up and sent on to recyclers, for which we receive a small compensation. We do not accept old computers, TV sets, printers, or any other electronics. The security of your discarded phone is ultimately your responsibiloity.
