This may just be what they need to bring in a bit more business and keep the doors open. Lots of interesting things can be found reading the minutes of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors meetings. OFF-TRACK PARI-MUTUEL WAGERING PERMIT FOR LANDMARK OF ARIZONA, LLC DBA UNION HILLS GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB Pursuant to A.R.S. ยง5-111(A), approve a request filed by Turf Paradise for an Off-Track Pari-Mutuel Wagering Permit for Landmark of Arizona, LLC DBA Union Hills Golf and Country Club at 9860 West Lindgren Avenue, Sun City, Arizona 85373 covering races beginning June 1, 2018 through May 31, 2021 (Supervisorial District 4) (C-06-18-439-L-00) Motion to approve by Supervisor Gallardo, seconded by Supervisor Gates Ayes: Barney, Chucri, Gates, Hickman, Gallardo
This should be a boon to them, I am sure. Wonder if they are going to allow everyone in to bet, or try to keep it to members only?
It's already open to the general public C, so no worries there. The bigger question is what happens when they sell the clubhouse to the Elks?
If the off track betting is a success for the Country Club I doubt that the purchase by the Elks would go through.
Don't hold your breath on that one aggie. When we moved here in 2003 there was a bar and off-track betting parlor just down from the Ace Hardware on Bell Road. I stopped a couple of times to see the racing, but lordie, there was never anyone in their and it quickly went away. The horses and dogs have become yesterdays news, the Indian casino's offer a much quicker way to throw away your money.
How has the betting been working out for them? I've heard much of the property seems to be deteriorating and since the Elks didn't take the clubhouse after all, it may be up for sale again....
