I may have posted this in the past and if you've seen it, you may not want to watch it again. I've watched it a hundred times and every time I get a chuckle and warm all over glow. Oops, there I go again, rambling on with only me having a clue of where I am going. Gosh I hate when I do that. I had the good fortune of serving on the Del Webb Sun Cities Museum board from 2008 through 2010; my final two years as president (just meant I got to put in more hours). I am back there now that my three term is up on the RCSC board. I think our greatest accomplishment during those three years was building an online presence. We have taken thousands of items and placed them in a searchable data base. This year we are talking about expanding the site, but lots of kinks to work out in the coming months. In 1962 the Del E Webb Development Corporation (DEVCO) produced a 22 minute video called The Beginning. It was shown across the country and by the year 2000 the contention was some thirty million people had watched it. We show it at the museum in what was once the original sales office for Sun City and is now our theater. We also have it posted on our website. Rather than make you go hunt for it, here are the two segment youtube links to the video. Get the popcorn on, sit back and have a laugh and a chance to see why we succeeded when the experts said we wouldn't. The Beginning part 1. The Beginning part 2
