Input please. We were talking to some friends last night that are also considering Sun City like we are. They lived in Phoenix many years ago and enjoyed it. They have a friend in Tuscon that says scorpions and black widows are a real problem. They asked my to ask on this forum is they can be an issue in Sun City? Thanks in advance.
That's a good question. In my 7 years in SC, I have never seen a scorpion or black widow. My son, however, who lives in Peoria had a scorpion on his patio. I suspect that was because they were preparing to build not far from his house, and scared up all the insects (and snakes!). I have Amera Pest Control. Once a month they spray the outside of my house and the garage ($58 a year). Twice a year, I have them spray the inside ($4.00 each time). It would cost me more than that to do the spraying. Plus, what do I know about sprays? Nada.
I have had a few roaches in my 7 years in SC - about 4. I keep a spray handy and send them to roach heaven! The outside of my house and the inside of my garage is sprayed every month. Twice a year I have the inside of my house sprayed. The Gechos (sp?) are good guys and eat the bugs. Last year I had ants in my kitchen and it took a long time to get rid of them. This year I purchased a gizmo at Walmart (under $20 for 6) that flashes an electronic beep - no ants. It might also have helped that I added some grout to places in tile on kitchen wall.
