Let's get real here and have a heart to heart discussion about what is going on at SCHOA. If you check back through the threads and newspapers this summer, you will see I wrote a number of articles, editorials and threads supporting SCHOA and the waste water case they were considering challenging.

After a board meeting, they decided to proceed, hoping the community would rally behind them and help raise the $60,000 to take it to court. Across the community, the cry went out, this would be our one chance to stop consolidation. People stepped up in a big way and in 4 to 5 months they had raised the money needed to file the suit. All good so far right?

Now, several months down the road, we see EPCOR having to hold meetings because the ACC has asked for the same kind of consolidation for the water rates. SCHOA, god love them, starts the battle cry. No problem with that. Where i struggle is it appears they are using this ugliness to once again raise a bunch of money. For what? The simple reality is if the court rules in favor of consolidation on the waste water, the water consolidation is a given. There will be no court case challenges, no costly appeals, we'll simply eat it.

All of their promotional materials are encouraging Sun City to once again dig deep and help fight this water consolidation case. The difference is in the first instance they out and out told people they would refund their donation if the board decided not to fight it.

So what's the deal SCHOA, what are you begging the dollars for now? Will you return it to people when we get the waste water case stuck where the sun doesn't shine? What's the grand plan here, will it be refunded or is it just to have people shovel more money your way?

God knows you don't need it now that you can pinch $300,000 plus a year from the unsuspecting Sun City residents who sell their home.
