ARIZONA’S WAR TOWN: FLAGSTAFF, NAVAJO ORDNANCE DEPOT & WWII Speaker, Prof. John Westerlund Wednesday, November 13, 1-2 p.m. Just weeks after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the War Department announced the construction of a massive ammunition depot 10 miles west of Flagstaff on U.S. Highway 66. This program explores the remarkable co-existence of sometimes contentious ethnic communities, and illustrates the impact of military expansion on social, economic, and community development in Arizona. DESPERADO TRAILS: OUTLAWS ON THE ARIZONA FRONTIER Speaker, Author Jan Cleere Thursday, November 14, 1-2 p.m. This program features stories of some of Arizona’s more notorious citizens, bringing to life a time when massacres, mayhem and mischief ran rampant throughout the territory. This talk includes a PowerPoint presentation detailing the sordid details of desperadoes such as cattle/horse rustler and murderer Augustine Chacon, cattle thief Cecil Creswell, everyone’s darling stagecoach robber, Pearl Hart, and more! USED BOOK SALE by the FRIENDS OF THE SUN CITY LIBRARIES Friday, November 15, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. & Saturday, November 16, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sponsored by the Friends of the Sun City Libraries, Inc., a used book sale is being held at the Fairway Branch Library. Choose from hundreds of quality used books, puzzles and more for all ages and on every imaginable subject. Prices are low and quality is high. This event is open to the public.
