I was just watching a t.v. show -- channel 15-2 -- a cooking show which highlighted cooking with beer !
Agree -- beer is a tasty liquid to add to your dishes while cooking. Today - featured was the pork braised in the over for 8 hrs. with beer, onion celery- apple and wonderful herbs plus apple cider vinegar...the outcome was a nice looking pulled-pork sandwich.
Another recipe was for cheese-beer soup....sounded good. And a clam, mussel, shrimp, seafood dish cooked on a pot on top of the stove -- simmered in a batch of stock & beer. Looked yummy.
The highlight of the show was the Beer Dessert which was ice cream served in a goblet, topped with chocolate covered pretzel pieces and then beer poured on top -- WOW - - looked like a "Beer Float".
I forgot the name of the show....but - the recipes were so different ! They called for beer from different countries and different flavorings.
I myself have used beer in cooking chicken and also the Thanksgiving Turkey -- basting it in beer.

We do babyback ribs in beer....or sometimes wine for a change of taste.....just rub the babybacks with seasoning of choice, place them on foil, cover with beer (or wine) and wrap into a loose, but beer-tight, package. Bake at 250-300 for 3 hours, remove from foil and cook on the grill till nicely browned...I like them with BBQ sauce added during grilling. These are fall off the bone tender, and the beer adds a nice flavor, especially a dark lager.

Sounds delicious archer, but rarely out here do I want the oven on for that long. That's why my crock pot is my pal along with a toaster over and microwave and breadbaker. Oh, that reminds me that a good beer batter bread is another excellent use for beer. I dunno about icecream and beer Anita Mae--if you ever try it, let us know.
