Purchased a car in AZ earlier this year and shortly after got a warning from the AZ state patrol that the window tint was above the legal limit. Apparently window tint tolerances in AZ are low despite the intensity of the sun.* Not wanting to get fined I researched the AZ law and found that AZ medical review board would allow my window tint if my dermatologist were to write a letter asking for an exemption on my behalf. He was very willing based on my medical history , and possibly the fact that the drives the same model car.* It took a few weeks and I now carry the exemption attached to my AZ registration.* Just FYI should anyone find themselves in this situation.*
Here's the link to the AZ Statute. The Exemption is under G. This exemption for dark tinting will not prevent you from being stopped to see if you in fact have this exemption. Format Document
I am sure you are correct, unless it shows up when the license plate is run... Some law enforcement agencies have advanced systems that scan plates automatically while the officer is driving...searching for stolen cars, outstanding warrants etc....not as effective in AZ with no front license plate...
I think I am safe. I bought my car new in '07 and had windows tinted. Never been stopped. Everyone wants to buy my car. 9 years old and only about 14,000 miles. Yep. Less than 2,000 a year. I am at the point where I rarely leave Sun City. Only to go to Walmart or Lake Pleasant Shopping Center or visit family. All my needs are met right here.
Low mileage used SC cars are always in high demand. Often on Craig's List sellers will infer their car is from SC or Surprise and meet buyers in a SC location, like a rec center parking lot. *Buyers always have an image of who they want to buy car *from.*
