So I purchased a kit a little over a week ago, and it's still sitting in the CVS bag.

I really do want to know about the ancestry. But I'm not so sure about the genetic. You can purchase ancestry and not genetic separately.

Many years ago when I was in college, I took the first recombinant DNA class offered as well as genetics, so I do have a science background. Back then, I remember saying without a doubt, that I would want to know everything in my genetic profile. Now at age 57, I'm not so sure anymore.

Would you want to know if your DNA coded for genetic information, especially for diseases for which there are no cure?
If I had children, I would definitely add the genetic component.
