I prefer to fly into a major city in Europe and travel by my self. I’m not cut for a cruise with a bunch of people being herded around like cattle from one place to the next. I also like to travel at off times for Europe such as January, February and early March. Cheap airfares and cheap hotels, airbnbs, etc. Somehow being swept through the center of Florence by mobs of Japanese tour groups with selfie sticks kind of ruins the experience. Some travel tips really worth your time in France are the cities of Albi with an amazing cathedral and the birthplace of Toulouse-Latrell, Carcassone a perfectly preserved walled city from medieval times, Aix Provence and Nimes. Italy, yes Florence and relish in the birthplace of the Renaissance and the west of the Medicis, Bergamo and Milan, Ravenna with mosaics in the churches that have to be seen to believed.

That’s just to start. So enjoy your cruise down one of the most polluted rivers in Europe.

Well hi there everyone. I am a long term Sun City year round resident. As you will note over time I am one opinionated individual. I enjoy minutiae on issues and have an argumentative streak which have driven colleagues during my career and others crazy. I will try not to do it here.

My idea of a cruise is Cunard from New York to Southampton. Classy, no stops and no kids. Plus we get to spend 10 days in London. Lots of free stuff to do. The SO/LP hasn’t been there since the late 60’s when she later took a bus to Ireland (inside joke). We are planning this for next year. As for the continent, I usually go for a long time, 6 weeks or more as I like to spend several in my chosen destinations. The biggest problem is not cheap with long term Eurail pass, Airbnb at chosen destination and spending money. Well worth the money and you can’t take it with you. My two cousins worth anything are set up as the SO/LP. The rest of my relatives, fuck them they don’t try to contact me and I don’t know where are.

I never said you took or have taken a cruise, you just made that up. I was voicing my opinion on escorted cruise and also land tours, just not for me as I have witnessed many of these “cattle drives.” Seems you have problems with opinions and I am pleased your friend enjoyed her cruise wherever it was and the Danube is one of the most polluted rivers in Europe followed by the Seine.

Aside from that, I am puzzled by your last post other than displaying your tech skills.

I am writing my post on this thread about the Titanic because it seems the most appropriate place to tell you my thoughts. Talk of Sun City used to be a site where a person could go to read varying opinions on matters of interest in Sun City. It is one of the places where I became interested and knowledgeable about such things. Due to the insulting posts, off topic rants, and bizarre references, just a handful of people have "sunk" this site to new low levels which make it useless. You know who you are! Thanks a lot. You notice very few people participate in Talk of Sun City anymore. Why would they? A person has to sort through all your ridiculous posts to find something meaningful.

 

This is a "Non Sun City Related" forum. If interested in Sun City try the Sun City General Discussions forum and don't read the other forums. Although there was political bashing on that forum as well in 2016 thru 2020. 4 pages of it by Bill (posted above for your reading enjoyment). That was ok it seems.
