I think it's legal to drive with one eye in most, if not all, states. I have greatly diminished vision in one eye due to a retinal detachment and had no trouble renewing my license. There is a restriction in that you are required to have side-view mirrors on both sides of the vehicle and I was verbally informed of that but in true Hawaii fashion, they neglected to note it on my license.

I hate to be snitchy, 3G, but turning them in may be a good idea. At the very least, let family know. While putting themselves at risk is bad enough, they're putting the rest of us at risk too. I understand it's a huge blow to their independence as we went through this with my dad. It's for the greater good.

I Sincerely do apologize to the forum members.

I clearly should have thought just a tad bit more before I posted what I had.

My poor choice on posting events I've witnessed in the community and especially to this degree
SHOULD have never been brought up in a public form, Again I do sincerely apologize.

I will do my best to never let this happen again.

With my tail shamefully tucked between my leg's

Hardly a problem 3G. This site is where we gather to share ideas, concerns and problems we all face. The reality of what goes on here simply allows us to shine a light on the good, the bad and the ugly. Reality TV without the TV eh?

I can't see any reason for an apology. Actually, I think this is an appropriate topic throughout society. Especially topical in age-restricted communities like Sun City. I'm not one who advocates age related discrimination normally but I'm not sure that driving tests being required after a certain age isn't such a bad idea. I must admit, I'm not familiar with Arizona's laws. Perhaps they do this already.

No, please don't apologize. This IS something that needs attention. People who can't or shouldn't drive need convenient alternatives.

A neighbor took me for my cataract surgery last week and another neighbor brought me home. Yet another neighbor took me the next day for post op.

I have the same problem looming for next week's surgery. I'm tempted to call discount cab. I checked the price and it would be under $8. However, I don't think the surgery place would approve. They want someone to stay there or at least be available by cell. There is another cab place that is $4. Don't know much about it. My problem is compounded by the fact that the people who would help me are either snowbirds or on vacation. Guess I didn't plan this very well.

I think 1 or 2 states do require a driving test after a certain age.
