    Lawn Bowling Open Motion Unnecessary?

Why is there a first reading RCSC motion to approve the Sun City Lawn Bowling Club hosting the 2024 US Lawn Bowling Open?

Location is already promoted as Sun City and Sun City West on BowlsUSA.

The RCSC motion to approve seems unnecessary.

    Shouldn’t it be retracted?

No idea why it was needed. No more so then we would need approval of an outside golf or pickleball tournament. These tournaments are routinely approved by the clubs office in that they are requested by the hosting clubs and rent is paid to the RCSC.

Maybe it helps protect the community from liability issues?

Point being, the motion for board approval should have been introduced and passed before BowlUSA could promote it.

Okay, sure. But the liability issue sounds better to me.

    Tom,
Official RCSC Club “rules” confirm what Bill said, no board motion required for an event or tournament. A written request form must be submitted to the RCSC Club Office where a decision is made. No Board action required.

RCSC Board Policy Resolution No. 12

    Chartered Clubs

    11. CLUB EVENTS/TOURNAMENTS

Any club President may request to host/sponsor a club event/tournament open to the public through the Clubs Office which will assign appropriate RCSC Facilities, as available. An open club event/tournament is any event to be attended by the general public and not just Cardholders and their invited guests.

Clubs shall pay RCSC rental fees for RCSC Facilities assigned for open club events/tournaments unless the club’s annual donation to RCSC is Twelve Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($12,500) or greater per year or the event is sanctioned as a RCSC sponsored event. To request that RCSC sanction an event/tournament, the club must submit the request to Management see:

Okay, as long as liability is covered. Which begs the question eo, “Why ask why”?

Most welcome and prompt email reply from Kat Fimmel, RCSC president:

“The motion is to resolve an administrative oversight by the SC Lawn Bowlers.

We do not believe there will be any issue in resolving this matter on behalf of the Lawn Bowlers.

    Regards,

    Kat”

Begs the question. What was the administrative oversight?

Thanks for this info eo! Kudos to the subcommittee for their work on this report. Happy to see that walking paths and fitness areas updates were emphasized as action items for the BOD.

The committee did not realize that they were supposed to fill out a form for the clubs office. That's all.

Director Richtmyre removed the Lawn Bowling motion from the agenda at today’s Board of Directors meeting, 3.28.24.

They didn't need it as it was requested as obligated by the clubs to the clubs office months ago. It was redundant.
