We have noticed that package deliveries by UPS & FEDEX arrive at our doorstep without any notice. There used to be a practice where they would ring the doorbell to alert us to the delivery. No more I guess. The fact that we aren't alerted has caused problems when someone sends us an unexpected package. We've had melted chocolate, defrosting food items and yesterday two flower deliveries out in the heat for who knows how long. There's also a problem with temperature sensitive items that stay in their non-climate controlled trucks all day before delivery.

I read online that they no longer ring the doorbell unless a signature is required. Does this have to do with COVID? Sure wish they'd go back to ding-dong alerts. In the meantime we'll request that all deliveries require a signature.

Hah, the rich folks live in phase 3, us phase two'ers are pretenders and wanna'be's. And, once the palatial new Mountainview resort center is built everyone will be fighting to buy in phase 1.

    So there. :p

Even the mail carrier rings the bell when he/she delivers a package.

Okay, in full disclosure I have to report that I should have checked to see if I needed to replace the batteries in our doorbell before the blanket complaint about delivery services. We don't have a wired doorbell at this point so it's up to us to check to see if it's operational. Apologies to the delivery people that did in fact ring the silent doorbell!

We have had some perishable items disasters but on a whole we are satisfied.

This might be a good opportunity to embrace technology.

An inexpensive RING unit, which you can install yourself, would let you know someone is at the door whether or not they actually push the doorbell, or not.

in fact, it will alert you to someone at the door even if you are not home.

It will show you who is at the door, and you can talk to them without having to come to the door.

Ring video doorbell is a wired device (replaces your existing doorbell button) and alerts you of someone at your door. It disables your current doorbell and it will require a Ring
chime which will replace your current bell. The advantage of the Ring video bell and chime is that it alerts to motion or push of button and also sends video to your
smart phone which can be used to talk to individual at your door.

A cheaper alternative if you don't need video to your phone and don't want to disable your existing bell is a 15 dollar device from Harbor Freight. No wiring necessary.

I'm slow to embrace some technology. The kids actually got us a Nest Hello video doorbell for Christmas which is still boxed. One day we'll get it functional.

Actually, I think phase 2 is the best place to live. Phase 1 still has above ground utility lines. I stayed in a house one summer is Phase 1 and we lost electric 3 times!

    Phase 3 has curbside mailboxes.

Phase 2, the best place, LOL! has underground utilities, and the mailman still delivers to the house! Us Phase two'ers have the best of both worlds!

We are in phase 1 and have underground utilities. Plus our mail man is awesome. Most delivery folks ring the bell, Amazon is usually the exception.

Received a amazon pkg Monday and no door bell was rung. Normally I would greet him or her but I purposely didn't just to see. Fedex always does it. USPS also rings the bell.
