So, have you been shot yet? If so, how was the experience of getting an appointment, actually getting the shot, reactions to the vaccine and does it give you a sense of safety?

My husband was more or less invited to get the shot at the Banner Sun City West location. Getting the appointment was a snap, the lines(even with appointments) were long and slow, he showed no reaction to either the 1st or 2nd dose and yes, he does feel more safe going out in public. He does continue wearing a mask because even a mild case is not an option.

It took me hours of attempts on my computer to get an appointment slot in the 65+ group. Banner SCW was a no-go and I didn't want to travel to Phoenix or Chandler. Cardinal Stadium was my chosen site and it felt like I won the lottery when my appointment request was finally accepted & confirmed. The only drawback was that it was at 1:00 a.m. and staying up into the wee hours of the morning is something I just don't do.

It took just under an hour from the time we left for the stadium to returning home. What a streamlined process and they do it 24/7. I did get the flu-like yucky feeling about 24 hours post vaccination but it only lasted a day. They already booked me for my 2nd dose and it's a more reasonable 1:00 in the afternoon.

I won't feel good about changing my routine of mostly confined until after the 2nd dose but even then I'll be a mask wearer. We were both Pfizered.

2nd shot yesterday, both in Chandler. Pfizer. No negative reaction on either.
Very efficient site thanks to volunteers. Both shots were within a few minutes of scheduled appointment.
Reduce (and possibly eliminate) reaction by exercising arm and hydrating before and after.
If you are going for your 2nd shot be sure to take your vaccination card from your first shot.
Took a nap afterwards because I like taking naps.

We both got ours yesterday. Mine at Fry’s on Grand and my wife at Fry’s on Olive. Sweet, in and out quick and no negatives. Please, if you haven’t gotten it yet, do so. We all want our lives back to “normal” and this is the path to get there.

Wife/I both had our 2nd shot a couple weeks ago. State Farm Arena for both, no negative reactions to either 1st or 2nd. We feel better that Covid likely won't kill us now. Nonetheless, we're both staying masked around others and still cautious about interacting. Covid science is evolving, but there is still too wide a variance in reports about what exactly the vaccine protects us/others from, how long that protection lasts, and the never ending reports of variants -- some of which reportedly get past the vaccine's defenses to varying degrees.

Life has always been full of risks and we're not particularly concerned with out-of-the-blue events harming one of us -- we've always felt when our number's up, it's up. But we don't recklessly tempt fate. Covid has been deadly to several acquaintances and has had lingering affects on others we know (including several right here in SC). So until things are better understood, we're staying away from most situations where proper masking/distancing is difficult or not practiced. That means you won't see us at a rec center, a restaurant for indoor dining, and only occasionally in a grocery store. We expect to continue our regimen at least until the metrics reduce considerably and most health agencies agree herd immunity has been reached. We both still work, now mostly from home (via Zoom) with very infrequent customer face-to-face interactions unless outdoors. Indoor meetings require mask wearing. Most we serve agree, only a few individuals have refused to cooperate -- they are someone else's customer now.

So good to hear there are so many locations in our area where you can get the vaccinations. Did you get the email blast from RCSC that there will be a drive-thru vaccination event at Sun Dial starting next week? Good public relations for RCSC to get involved because it will help to get our facilities open again.

Cool on the event here, much needed. Now the bigger question is what will the RCSC do with the governor clearing the way to move to phase 3? Once they tied to their can to him for the golf excuse, i don't know how they pretend he isn't the driving force to open everything back up. Lots of thoughts on that scenario but i will save them to see how they play it with their next move.

Anyone go to the meeting Monday? Did they move from phase 2 to phase 3? Not sure how they had a choice once they traveled down the Ducey argument to keep golf open.

The meeting is up on the website. This discussion about how to proceed appears to be taking place now. It also seems this discussion falls under day-to-day operations but it would be the perfect opportunity to video tape and post any informational meetings between the BOD and Management. This is the type of background information that would be so helpful to all of us.

Just got done watching it. Fascinating. So much so i think i will do a thread on parts of it. As far as opening up, i love the fact we depended on Ducey for golf but now the CDC is going to be our guiding light. Let's be clear, golf was about one thing and one thing only...money. The other side of the coin is everything else we do is still being paid for with rec fees, even if we never get to use it. I'm all for being overly cautious, but someone explain to me how walking Meeker Mountain (at Viewpoint lake) with guests is dangerous.

They beautifully orchestrated my shot at Sundial Rec --so smooth--no wait time at all--even took us early. Everyone was so nice--an amazing combo of volunteers from our Posse, volunteers from national disaster teams, and paid (I assume) needle stickers from Embry Women's Health. Moved my arm for 15 mins and on and off throughout the day, hydrated a lot and now I have some shoulder ouchiness esp if I raise my arm so will need to be careful tossing and turning while I sleep....
Such a shame RCSC didn't allow the Sundial site use sooner. I think of the frustration so many had to experience unnecessarily-- so much wasted time online and phoning to try to get an appt. or hauling themselves out in the middle of the night to go to the stadium or all the way downtown....a shame we have such thoughtless folks with narrow vision with such power....

This morning I went to Sun Dial at 10:45 for my 11:00 vaccination.
They were very efficient and made my appointment for 2nd shot.
    I was home by 11:30.
I did not know that this location is only available to Sun City residents.
I agree with SCjack. They should have offered it much, much sooner.

I keep drinking water and moving my arm.

I drove by Sun Dial Monday morning and it looked like things were moving along nicely. It truly is tragic it took so long and only after being shamed into doing it.

Less than 25% of people in Maricopa County have been vaccinated so far -- herd immunity needs closer to 70% to be effective. The number of variants is growing. If you're an anti-vax'er or think covid is just like the flu you should read (this) article in today's Republic about a super cautions woman who didn't wear her mask just once -- she ended up in the ICU for 5-weeks plus 3 in rehab. Her medical bills are $1.3-million. Anyone considering not getting vaccinated is just plain crazy.

Trash me all you want but I think to be allowed to use any of the amenities in Sun City you must have proof that you are vaccinated unless you're allergic which in that case he must carry a certified notarized card as proof or your left out of the loop. I've talked to many anti-vaxxers and they are pure scum and we do have a lot of pure scum that live in Sun City and they love that pile of shit that just left office. All he had to do was put a mask on get a vaccine so everybody could see it till people to go get a vaccine and he probably would have won now hopefully a prison cell is going to be his home along with the rest of his low life family

  16. Congratulations to everyone who has received the vaccine. I, on the other hand have not received diddly. I have wasted more hours than I care to think on this turd hunt. Fortunately I have not thrown either of my two computers against the wall as I do not deal with frustration very well. People ask me if I have been vaccinated and when I say no, the response has always been “ you should be at the top of the list with your medications.” Evidently I was not. At the moment I have a better chance of parting the waters at Viewpoint Lake than getting the vaccine. Well, the quest continues and Embry just texted, no first doses in Maricopa county.

I’m from Chicago, so who do I have to payoff and how much for this vaccine?

    COVID-19 Boosters are now available.

I received an email from Walgreens yesterday telling me that the 3rd Covid-19 Shot (Booster) is available. So I clicked the link to schedule my appointment. 40 minutes later I had 2 appointments (myself and my wife) at the Walgreens in El Mirage. The booster is only available for people who received the Pfizer shots. We got ours back in February at State Farm Stadium (middle of the night 1 AM for the first one; 9 PM for the second).

I made a mistake with the time, at Walgreens and needed to change it. Wow, what a mess. I had received 2 confirmation numbers by email. I went to their web site and dug around an found their vaccination section. I could see vaccines I had gotten at Walgreens over the past 20 years (Flu, Pneumonia, Shingles, ...). There was a link to for Appointments. Click that, and saw where I could enter a confirmation number to view/change an appointment. Well, my confirmation number was too long (6 characters too long). So more wasted time... I called the pharmacy and was put on hold for about 5 minutes and hung up.

I did a quick search for "Covid-19 Boosters AZ". Lots of results, but I always check the URLs. I went to Maricopa County's web site and found a link to search for locations. There are a lot, but not all have Pfizer. I tried the nearby CVS stores initially. It's a bit of a nightmare, with these web sites. The original state web site for Covid shots, made me search, day by day, for appointments. Well, I had enter some info indicating I had received the Pfiszer vaccine and was eligible for the booster. Then I could see appointment times. NOBODY SAID WHERE THE PFIZER SHOTS ARE AVAILABLE. I had to go store by store, day by day to look for appointments. I finally realized that the Sun City and nearby Peoria CVS stores didn't have any appointments.

I found appointments at the CVS at 107th Ave and Camelback. Just 4 miles from my home. It was around 2:30 PM and I could schedule appointment for the same day!!! So I did. My wife and I went at 6:30 PM and got our 3rd shots.

To make it easier all of you, who want the Pfizer Booster shot:

    https://www.cvs.com/vaccine/intake/store/covid-screener/covid-qns
This link will bypass all the COVID-19 (stuff for idiots;)) and take you to the Scheduling!
I suggest you check the CVS at 10707 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85037 - Store number 07263.
This is on the SouthWest corner of 107th Avenue and Camelback. They have lots of appointments now.

Note 107th Ave and 103rd Ave do not connect from Sun City to Camelback.
I took 99th Ave all the way. I wanted to avoid riding the 101.

DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR VACCINATION CARD! They need to stamp it.
I forgot mine. I don't see the need to carry it on me all the time. Lots of info on the email confirmation from CVS. It told me what to do and bring. But it DID NOT mention the VACCINATION CARD. I am fallible and do make mistakes :D. I admit it and apologized to my wife for the extra trip. CVS did check us in and quickly got us in when we returned.

The Safeway at 107th & Olive Avenue has the Pfizer booster vaccine with no appointment necessary but you can make one if you want to be assured of a specific time.

I always learn something new every day. I used to use that Safeway Pharmacy but changed to the Walgreens at 107th & Peoria. I don't recall the issue or reason for the change.

I don's recall seeing Safeway on the Maricopa County site, just CVS on the opposite corner. Often times I see what I want to see and not everything that may be there.
