Welcome soon to Sun City. Depending on where you are coming from, the heat can be somewhat difficult to adjust to. It can be a dry heat which can sap your energy quickly and you may not notice you are not drinking enough water. Just go a bit slower and do your shopping or your chores in the early part of the day. The first summer here we almost passed out crossing a parking lot due to not paying any attention at all to drinking water. We came from the northern part of CA where it was cold and rainy most of the year so we took a summer to get used to it. You may want to time your move so you can slowly adjust. We actually enjoy the heat now and look forward to summers here.
I just became a member of this site...appears to be fun and informative. I moved to Sun City, AZ - - from a close city near here - - - 5 years ago and absolutely love it ! ! My parents originally lived in Sun City - AZ - - back in the early 70's. They both passed away in the early 90's. They loved their Paradise - - retiring from Omaha. I enjoy all of the awesome activities as well and I am blessed to be a part of such a wonderful retirement community. I enjoy the Rec Centers, Pools, Gyms and Ballroom Dancing. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and enjoying life in general.
New to TOSC Hello All, We have lived in Sun City since 2007. We have three fur children, four skin children, and a mess of grandchildren. We love to go to the mountains in the motor home in the summer and enjoy the coolness, the rain and the many walks with the dogs. This is going to be so great, to once again have a board to post on that is not filled with hate, anger, and politics. YEA!
Welcome to TOSC. It is a great group of people with answers to all questions about Sun City Original and Arizona in general. Ask away! It took me a few minutes to understand "fur children" and "skin children".
Hi, I'm Steve a newbie here.I'm a retired software engineer and now finishing my novel. I love reading, swimming, movies and doing puzzles. I have feeling that I will enjoy this forum.

Hi there, I just moved to Sun City Original on June 3rd this year, from Prescott, AZ...I know, great weather and community, however not so great for activities for senior singles or senior couples for that matter, unless you play golf or hang out on Whiskey Row. My early years were spent near Thumbutte and those are the greatest memories for me and the draw to return to Prescott. Long story short, parents followed me, their health went down and kept me stagnant too, my mother passed away in January and it is time to see some of life here in Sun City. My eldest son works for SRP in Phoenix. I oil paint (finally, again!), enjoy dancing and singing karaoke. I've joined the Lakeview art group, just moving about and learning the community in between many workman to get my apartment up-graded. Hope to hear from some of you!
Welcome to Sun City. It truly is a wonderful place. You will find all kinds of clubs. I have found all sorts of things to do including volunteering at the Visitor Center and Posse and pool excercise class. All the churches have special groups. Just remember you have to get out and go!!
Welcome CSB to the site and we look forward to your involvement on the site!! there are wonderful folks on here and still growing.. I hear what your saying and I am so glad your living your life and have fun!! I am not in Sun City yet but will be someday for sure!!
Great to see you join us CSB. Couple of pretty good painting clubs here in SC and several dance clubs as well. Given your talents, you should be well received by the clubs and heck by all the rest of us too.
Plenty of art events around the area for seniors. Sun City will have the annual craft show in Nov. WHAM in Surprise also is a very active art organization and welcomes new artist. They do a great deal for the community. You will find plenty to do in time.
