The GM and BOD should take note as to the value of data collection.

It applies to all aspects of our daily lives.

Without data collection we would have no idea how many Covid cases there are in the US and other parts of the world.

We wouldn't know what age group is supposedly more susceptible to Covid.

We wouldn't know the number of fatalities.

We wouldn't know the number of people tested.

We wouldn't know what states are hot spots.

Data collection is extremely important to mitigating the effects of Covid.

Without data, knowledgeable decisions on every day things can not be made including here in Sun City.

Hey there SCR, you are so correct in your assessment. Here is the trouble we have with the data being put out, it is skewed.

I work with a gentleman who stated the covid deaths are not being reported correctly. Example: if a senior already COPD, and dies, they are calling it a death related to existing lung problems, not the reason for the lung failure. If someone has previous heart condition and dies, they are making the call and calling it death by coronary issues. The real problem with data is garbage in, garbage out.

That said, any kind of data, which helps to serve the greater good is better than having nothing at all. I doubt seriously the current management structure will ever admit to needing data, much less setting anything in motion to collect it.

It is really sad the RCSC is so far behind the digital curve, as there is no need to be so technically behind. One person making all of the decisions is never a good way to decide the fate of anything much less an entire community.

On April 8, Dr Deborah Birx of the virus task force is quoted as saying that if a person passes away from any cause, such as COPD etc, but is diagnosed with covid19, the cause of death is listed as coronavirus.

This is just a statement of fact, not a defense of Trump or anyone in his administration.

I might have to side with Carole on the accuracy of the COVID 19 counts. It used to be that if someone was under a doctor's care and had been seen within a certain time frame, a death outside a hospital or care facility was for the cause shown to be treated for most recently. If that patient died at home there was no blood test performed and the body would go straight to the mortuary. Not sure if this procedure has changed but if it hasn't, it would be a reason for unreported COVID cases thus throwing off the counts.
