World war two veteran Richard Stewart passed Friday at home with his loving wife Anne Randall Stewart at 10:30 AM. He is now with his Marine brothers that he enlisted with in the United States Marine Corps. His loving wife grieves for him and we are now all a little bit less for his passage.

While we salute his military service we can’t forget how much money he and his wife Anne have cost the residents of Sun City.

First, Dick and Anne did not cost the residents of Sun City a dime. RCSC did that on its own.

Lastly, a person of good character would leave politics out of a tribute to WW II veteran.

Especially, a US Marine, Semper Fi.

    George,
I was stating a fact. Actions taken by Mr. Smith and his wife have cost the citizens of Sun City money which could have been used for the benefit of all citizens. While we can agree or disagree that these actions were the cause of the RCSC your personal attack on me and my character was not appropriate. For this reason I've asked the moderator to ban you for life and intend to pursue any actions available to me including but not limited to legal remedies at law.

Again, I fail to find any attack on anyone's personal character or lack of. Provide proof same or retract.

I simply said that good manners should govern any comments on this forum. Or don't you agree?

    3Gen,

I come on this forum as an American, free and proud of my God Given rights to speak my mind in good manners without name calling or spurious character attacks.

You come here to deny all the rest of us our 1st Amendment rights because you don't want to engage in the spirited discussion of ideas as Dick Stewart, US Marine, not Mr. Smith as you called him, enlisted in the Marine Corps in WW II to defend. He enlisted believing he would be in the first wave to invade Japan as part of Operation Olympic. That invasion of the Japanese home islands, conservatively would have cost the lives of 250,00o American Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen. There would have 1 million more wounded. Japanese deaths would have been 4 million.

President Truman knew this and dropped two atomic bombs to prevent this slaughter. Yes, over 200,00o Japanese were killed, but the war was over before the end of August 1945 and my father came home from the South Pacific and raised a family. He had spent 3 1/2 years with General MacArthur island hopping.

You act like the new freshman congresswomen in the House of Representatives that feel they should be able to say anything, do anything, accuse others of racism and we should sit back and not comment. Well, welcome to real world of spirited discourse.

So, when you accuse Carol Martinez, Bill Pearson, myself, or anyone else of less than honorable behavior and it is not true, there will be pushback.

    Deal with it.

Tom, I completely agree with you that everyone has the right to speak their mind in good manners without name calling and spurious character attacks. That's all I would look for here. A good debate can actually lead to a general consensus which seems to be very rare these days. You may be surprised but I actually agree with most of the same things that CMartinez, Bill Pearson and others have discussed on this site. Unfortunately when good manners fall by the wayside and negatives come into play it's very hard to sift thru the mud slinging to determine the point the author is trying to make. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the issues and opportunities we face here in our little slice of paradise Sun City.

Good tutorial hear gang: Respond to topics in threads on that matter. If you have an interest in something different, start a new thread. I'm always looking for a spot to respond to what people have to say. Stepping on threads with off-topic responses tends to take it even further off track.

    RIP Dick.
