Super bummed that we didn't get to go to the museum. The timing and days that we are here didn't work with their hours. We are definitely going in December. For now I have my book Jubilee the 25th anniversary of sun City Arizona published by the Sun City historical society in 1984.

Great decision to get a copy of Jubilee...that will put you ahead of the curve on the vast majority of Sun City's population. While about 2000 folks visit the museum each year, a good share of them are visitors coming while they stay with friends who live here. And, it's often folks who come back time after time. Jubilee was written in 1985/1986 and has fairly well disappeared from the landscape of the community. The museum sells reproductions and sometimes you can stumble across copies for sale at garage sales. It is as good a read as you can get on those first 25 years.

I once suggested it should be mandatory reading for all RCSC board candidates. That went over about as well as could be expected from people who find reading to be a waste of time. Learning our history is essential (in my mind) to better understanding the critical role we each play in carrying on the values that were built into our community. Better yet, by the time you visit the museum, you will have read Jubilee and as you view the various exhibits you will feel you know many of the people in the photo's and the stories you will see and hear will mean far more.

And, don't be bummed, be thrilled you bought in Sun City and your lives will be forever changed. That old adage will ring true every day for the rest of your life...enjoy the journey, not the destination. Your's will play out for years to come. How does it get better that that?
