Emily I think I know your concern and I think you may end up being disappointed. Age shouldn't be a factor but reality proves the opposite. If not why do we have age restricted communities. The names I am familiar with the age range is well above the 55-65 category. If we have a Long Range Planning Committee how can the age group of 75 to 85 really make plans for the younger seniors moving to our community? We all have to admit that our ability to recognize the needs, desires and trends of people the age of our kids and grandkids is somewhat lacking. Their world is not my world. Try to remember back when you were a teenager.....were your thoughts the same as your folks or grand parents?

I wondered the same thing when I saw the names. Age should be a factor in the choice when talking about long range planss, maybe not for every single name but a few should have been in the representation....if any in that age group submitted an application. It's not about age discrimination, just common sense. Anyone know how long is the term for the committee members?

I wonder what criteria they used to chose? So much mystery...

I wondered about BP too. I was sad his name wasn’t chosen for whatever reason because he always seems to have the best for the community in his heart. Not to mention his knowledge of the history and what has worked in the past.

I read here and watch the meetings, which is very helpful, but I still feel I lack knowledge of the community the decision making processes. That part is not as I had expected it would be. I’ve never tried to heard cats.

The truth is there is a lot of inertia in the oligarch cats... their goal is to keep themselves in power. People with progressive/new ideas are basically ignored and/or belittled by the cats. Those who push the cats too hard for change often find themselves charged with some violation and/or lose their privileges somehow. BP tried to heard the cats... and found it was frustrating. He tried becoming a cat to effect change from within... but was somewhat ostracized by many of the other cats. He had some successes, though, and has lots of friends and supporters in SC... the cats don't care. It's a lot like our current federal gov't situation... those elected ignore the will of 75% of their constituents. That's not likely to change anytime soon.
