The RCSC seems to be running a $600,000 deficit. We need people willing to help to gather proxies to insure we acquire a quorum so we, Members, can make motions that will hold our Board's feet to the fire. This is our first deficit in 15 years. We need to make sure it will be our last. Let us know if will help collect proxies!
Good suggestion, FYI! All promotion about the Annual Meeting needs to include how to be represented by a proxy if unable to attend! That could be a list of volunteer proxy collectors to contact, specific days & locations people could go to and all RCSC Exchange and board meetings in advance of Wednesday, March 5th, NOON. Also, collectors could be promoting the meeting, asking club friends and neighbors if they are going! If not, offer the proxy option! Reminder, per proxy procedures: 4. Signatures can be obtained on RCSC property. About Quorum and Proxies ARTICLE IV – MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS SECTION 3: MEMBERSHIP QUORUM A quorum for any Membership meeting must consist of not less than five hundred (500) Members in good standing represented at the meeting in person or by proxy. The maximum number of proxies for any one member is twenty-five (25). Once a quorum has been established for any meeting, the quorum must be maintained to conduct business. If, however, such quorum will not be present or represented at any meeting of the Members, the Members entitled to vote at such meeting will have the power to adjourn the meeting without notice other than announcement at the meeting. Once a quorum has been established for any meeting, appropriate business may be conducted and decided by a majority vote of Members present unless otherwise required by the laws of the State of Arizona or Articles. Proxy Deadline 2025 Annual Membership Meeting Wednesday, March 5 by noon - Completed Proxy Forms Due – Procedures & Form available online at www.suncityaz.org/forms/ Recreation Centers of Sun City, Inc (RCSC) Proxy Request and Procedure – Members https://suncityaz.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Proxy-procedures-Revised-2023-Oct.pdf RCSC MEMBER PROXY - General https://suncityaz.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/FORM-Proxy-Form-General-Revised-Due-2025-03-05.pdf
Besides the budget issue, is there any specific item people are looking to advance during the meeting? Can make getting proxies easier to get if folks know what the hot topic items are. Is there any promotion being conducted so members know this is happening and how important it is for members to attend?
Eyes Open Can we get a current RCSC “Member Proxy - General” form that has the correct date (March 5, 2025) on the form when it has to be turned in. The date on this form you sent out has (Wednesday March 6, 2024) Please let us know and thank you for your help
Corporate will definitely need to update that! It’s what they provided in the E-notification forms link. I’ll send an email advising.
Eyes Open ok the form has been changed to the correct date March 5, 2025 and below is the link I just went to and it’s changed now. Thank you for your help https://suncityaz.us10.list-manage....b001c5179fefc4e0a7&id=6697846bda&e=0cf93ab98f
One man's opinion. Representation in person or by proxy at this year's annual membership meeting is very important.
RCSC COMMUNICATION Email Blast sent yesterday, 1/26/25 The only mention of the Annual Membership Meeting for this year is one sentence under the Board and Committee Meetings Heading. This meeting deserves more attention than that! This meeting is the ONE meeting of the BOD this year that YOU should NOT miss! By virtue of a quorum of 500 members in the audience, the meeting BELONGS TO THE MEMBERS! If Members bring forth amendments to the Bylaws or Policies and a quorum has been met, WE, THE MEMBERS, will VOTE!! Why does RCSC not present all the information necessary for Members to attend? After seeing the cover of the SUN CITY UPDATE in January, we all know that our GM has a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School, but unfortunately we know very little about the 2025 Annual Membership Meeting!! It seems like you should know that Communication is the key to successful communities and could pass that information to the department in charge. Jean Totten

Communication is more than simply stating the date and time. Good communication tells the Members why this meeting is so important. This is the Members ONE chance to make a difference. This is a meeting where WE vote (if quorum is attained). That's what's lacking in communication from RCSC.
As this important meeting is the ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING, is it not also the responsibility of the MEMBERS to promote it? RCSC is providing the basic information; dates and deadlines regarding the motions and proxies process. It’s too late to submit an article, editorial, graphic “ad” or perhaps a Member Matters column in the February UPDATE. However, the March UPDATE edition will provide 11 days of readership to communicate and educate to encourage member participation! Soon after February 21, any member initiated agenda motions should be known and included in the UPDATE. Anyone know the UPDATE submission deadline? It can’t possibly be the same as SunView’s club and event deadline was: “Information is due the 5th of the month prior to the month of issue. For example if you want something placed in December’s issue of SunViews, you’ll need to submit it by November 5th.” A month in advance? There must be a different deadline for NEWS! Who is eager to volunteer to generate content for the UPDATE that can also be available for social media?
Well, Well! TODAY, Sun City Independent online, no subscription required. LETTER Please attend RCSC’s annual meeting March 11 By Will Wecare | Sun City All those who purchase a home in Sun City: • Pay an annual Recreation Centers of Sun City assessment fee • Pay a PIF and CIF fee at closing • Are welcome to join over 120 clubs and use all eight recreation centers • Are invited to free activities ranging from concerts at the Sun Bowl to Golf Cart parades . Perhaps the most important “right” a member in good standing of this community has is attending the RCSC Annual Membership Meeting . This is the only meeting where the board of directors turns the meeting over to the members if there is a quorum of 500 people present. This year’s annual meeting will be held at 6 p.m. March 11 at the Sundial Recreation Center Auditorium. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and you must be queued in line by 6 p.m. You must present your RCSC membership card with the yellow stripe on the top and your picture for admission. Motions to amend RCSC bylaws or any other motions requiring a membership vote must be submitted by noon Friday, Feb. 21. If we vote in favor of an amendment created by a fellow member, the amendment goes into effect. Because of the importance of this meeting, proxy votes are allowed. If you cannot attend the meeting, you may sign a proxy form and give it to a circulator. Proxy forms are available at RCSC Corporate Office at the Lakeview Center, downloaded from the RCSC website , or given to you by a proxy circulator. Only RCSC proxy forms will be honored, and circulators can each carry 25 proxies to the meeting. Completed proxy forms must be submitted to the Corporate Office at Lakeview by noon Wednesday, March 5. Living here provides us with fun and entertainment, and the opportunity to help govern our community. Let’s not lose that right! Same person wrote this. Is anyone else concerned about the RCSC budget deficit? - Sun City Independent
I I could not agree more. I am encouraging everyone I know to be represented at the meeting either in person or by proxy.
Agreed, there's nothing like turning out enough members to insure we have a membership meeting. It's self-governance 101 and sadly the RCSC doesn't see it that way. They prefer to believe if there aren't enough butts filling chairs, those that aren't there are all happy. Show up and be counted, this is where it starts.
OPERATION QUORUM 500, LET’S DO IT! Are there opportunities for mobility challenged, eligible RCSC resident members to appoint a proxy to represent them at the ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING March 11, 2O25? Not everyone can navigate attending the meeting or physically entering a rec center to register their proxy. To be inclusive, are there: • Drive up collection sites to sign without leaving their vehicle? • A volunteer proxy collector to contact willing to come to their residence? If so, please post the information with all communications. If not, please consider offering such opportunities for everyone to participate.
