I hope it works. My hometown of Columbus NE has always struggled with having affordable housing for the workers of our manufacturing and meat packing plants. In the 1970's and 80's, my husband's firm developed neighborhoods and built hundreds of homes for low income families. They were called 235's, a basic three bedroom, one bath home, no garage. The buyers were able to get a low interest rate and their monthly payment was based on their income. Many of the homeowners improved their homes over the years by adding garages, fences, finishing the basements, etc. The only problem was that to qualify the buyer had to be debt free when the sale took place. Unfortunately it became difficult to find qualified buyers because everyone had debt - car loans, credit card debt, boats, etc. It was a good program and it provided many families with their own home which they had to pay for themselves, giving them financial security and a feeling of self worth.

I know, after reading full sentences and paragraphs with a purpose from Kamala, this mess trump so artfully articulated a week or so ago should leave us all questioning when they will be putting him in a home for the aged.
