“Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, ‘Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all’” (Mark 9:35).
And Geoffrey, I feel your pain. I have more or less a different book going in every room and currently "She's a Rebel: a history of women in rock & roll" is my 'take to the doctor's office' choice.

  2. CT, thanks for your kind comment. I knew of the book recommendation and it’s on my list somewhere. I have been interested in rock music since I saw Elvis on Ed Sullivan in the 50’s and seriously interested since I received a transistor radio (remember those) when I was 12. From pompadour boy singers to The Crystals to The Supremes to The Beach Boys (my first live concert) to The Beatles ( the revolution was televised) to the Stones to the Stones performing on Hullabaloo on the condition that Howlin Wolf would perform also to Woodstock to the present.

Not to sound like my parents, but not a big fan of rap and hip hop. I do like blues since I found it on my radio growing up in Chicago, but my favorite artist at the moment is Jon Baptist from New Orleans. He comes from a storied musical family and he is just so damn talented. If you have access to PBS Passport, find back concerts of Austin City Limits from around two years ago and see what a performer he is.

I like jazz and big band also and I have described my vinyl and CD collection as eclectic.

Sounds a lot like my history & collection and when I was playing in Los Pathetics I'd start every gig with our motto, "Rock & Roll will never die, unless we kill it tonight." Hmm I can't upload the picture.

You probably can smell the pig farms in Iowa.

  5. HH, Yes, I lived on a pig farm in Iowa back in the day when I was in 4-H. Great time, great family, but then you wouldn’t know that..

  6. I used to see Chicago Transit Authority for a $.50 cover in Old Town in Chicago. I also saw REO Speedwagon and Styx for a $.25 cover when I was at university. Beer was a quarter. There was another band that didn’t quite make it, Head East, who I thought was better of the other two.

You are correct grasshopper! I did not know that! Just figured re your olfactory orifice............. Just now finished installing new kitchen sink. Tired, I seriously wish you so many blessings from God.

  8. Assumptions are the mother of all screw ups. I was part of one of the early urban 4-H programs, the first was in Baltimore. I learned public speaking, cooking and baking, food and craft demonstration, life on various farms and taught inner city children about farms, i.,e., crop rotation, breeds of cattle, swine and sheep and their place on the farm on day trips to Wisconsin. 4-H taught me dedication to achieve goals, speak before large groups without fear, work with groups to achieve goals and hard work pays off 80% of the time. I met with CEOs, food writers, home economists and political figures all who were amazed at what I accomplished as well as my fellow 4-Hers. I accomplished all this by the time I was 19. It did more for me than high school ever did. I owe my degree, my career and my work with RCSC to 4-H and some debts can never be repaid.

    4-H Pledge

    I PLEDGE
    my HEAD
    to clearer thinking
    My HEART
    to greater loyalty
    my HANDS
    to larger service
    my HEALTH
    to better living
    for my club, my community
    my country
    and my world.

This pledge and the oath I took when I joined VISTA (same that the military swears to) I take very seriously and has guided me through life.

May the invisible cloud being provide you with the happiness you seek.

IF any of that is true it just furthers the fact that you are a fraud. Big words for someone who uses operas and murder mystery quotes to send death threats, not to mention how you degrade everyone and everything. It sure didn't teach you humility.

  10. As I previously posted, I know nothing of opera except for Tears of a Clown from 1973. As for death threats, your paranoia is starting to bother me. I specifically stated that the dog barking was posted as a non sequitur, hopefully you understand what that means and it has nothing to do with death threats. I think you are delusional, based on my previous experiences which you nothing of and I will keep it that way.

I will no longer respond to your questionable posts. Have fun with the rest of your life. Deus illud.

Thank you for promising to no longer respond to me.

You can try to turn the tables any way you like. Pagliacci is mentioned in the song, however the final words were not mentioned. “La comedia et fini.” Therefore, you had to have seen the last act or know about it somehow. It could be from your constant bragging about how smart you are in areas of History, Law and every other subject known to man. It’s not the first time you used it on Social Media platforms (2019 I believe) and yes, I have it saved to an external hard drive with a program that even if you delete your original posts they will remain as they were originally stated. Just a perk of being a lowly executive assistant at a huge company. Big discounts on otherwise unaffordable software.

The MCSO Seargent did not think I was paranoid, and now that there is a third, I will call again to set things in motion. I don’t know, I guess they don’t consider statements like you made to an old lady likely to cause unnecessary paranoia.

    The Tears Of A Clown
Song by Smokey Robinson and The Miracles

    Lyrics

    Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah
Now if there's a smile on my face
It's only there trying to fool the public
But when it comes down to fooling you
Now honey that's quite a different subject

But don't let my glad expression
    Give you the wrong impression
Really I'm sad, oh, I'm sadder than sad
You're gone and I'm hurting so bad
Like a clown I appear to be glad (sad, sad, sad, sad)

Now, there's some sad things known to man
But ain't too much sadder than
The tears of a clown when there's no one around, mm
    Oh, yeah, baby

Now if I appear to be carefree
It's only to camouflage my sadness
In order to shield my pride, I try
To cover this hurt with a show of gladness
But don't let my show convince you
That I've been happy since you
Decided to go (why did you go?)
Oh, I need you so (I need you so)
I'm hurt and I want you to know (want you to know)
But for others, I put on a show, ooh, oh (it's just a show)

There's some sad things known to man
But ain't too much sadder than
The tears of a clown, when there's no one around, oh, yeah

    Just like Pagliacci did
I try to keep my surface hid
    Smiling in the public, I
But in my lonely room, I cry
    The tears of a clown
When there's no one around, oh, yeah, baby
Now if there's a smile on my face
    Don't let my glad expression
    Give you the wrong impression
Don't let this smile I wear
Make you think that I don't care
    When really, I'm sad
    Hurtin' so bad

Songwriters: Henry Cosby / Stevie Wonder / William Jr. Robinson

  12. Actually, last post. The thing about fini was actually printed in the uni student newspaper who had a fictional person, Gus Bode, who stated that the day the campus was closed for Spring Quarter, 1970, 5 weeks early due student unrest. I always remembered that.
Anybody who went to Southern Illinois at that time would remember Gus and his quirky sayings. Go Dawgs! To clear up any misconception, our mascot is a Saluki. It is an Egyptian racing dog and it was chosen as southern Illinois is known as Little Egypt. Look at a map and you will understand.

It's so sad when people lack the emotional and intellectual ability to understand the most simple concepts. The word "clown" has nothing to do with this issue and I have a feeling it would be a waste of my time to even try to explain it to you Einar.

Well perish the thought that we should waste anyone's time here.

Exactly! Had Bill and Dave initial comments to me been kind this never would have happened, however they did and it did and I can quote them verbatim.
