URGENT UPDATE ON SUN CITY LIBRARIES

Discussion in 'Sun City General Discussions' started by OneDayAtATime, Mar 29, 2024.

  1. I understand your frustration. It's concerning when decisions are made without transparency and oversight. Involving all directors in important decisions is crucial for effective governance. Prioritizing transparent and inclusive decision-making can help address these issues and ensure the library issue gets managed in a fair and open manner.

Agree. I have been told to act. not whine. I am acting. Somewhere on here it says audit in progress. Who is doing the audit? Have we ever seen results of previous audits? The statement made here that 'we had no idea about the $20 million until the new GM looked at the books' (paraphrase) made me concerned. Have an email out to a friend and former CFO of a 501c3 asking some questions.

Could someone start a topic dealing with the audit to free up this thread for the library closing issue. Thank You.

Then why was no one aware of the $20 mil in deferred maintenance?

Hey, I do know how to start new threads but I'm not the one stepping all over the library thread.

Hey aggie; sadly, subtlety is lost on some folks

nothing subtle about that Bill. a request would probably have gotten the job done, however some don't understand that concept. some people would rather dictate.

For those of us who have been around for a while, donated their time and effort and been involved in more than their fair share, (thank you aggie) and understand the value of not stepping on threads in discussions between grown-ups, aggies request could not have been more pleasant. Rather than arguing the point, you each be the judge, far be it from me to tell you what to think. Here's is aggies suggestion:
"Could someone start a topic dealing with the audit to free up this thread for the library closing issue. Thank You."
Sorry for the bold and the bump in point size, i am nowhere near as polite as aggie. I just grow more weary by the day of whiners.

you make me smile. talk about not understanding subtleties. in the time it took aggie to make that request she could have done it herself. instead she chose to let us all know she was not pleased things were not going the way she wanted on this thread.

Why do people want to tell others what to do?
Telling people what to do makes us feel in control. We feel helpful. We all mean well when we give advice. We all like to think someone we know solved their problem thanks to our advice.

Most posters come to share their ideas on how to make Sun City a better place to live. Often times we disagree and frankly, that's a good thing because solutions are often forged from differing points of view. On the other hand, some come because they hate Sun City and just want the chaos to continue. My time is far too precious to waste on the haters.

I do believe there was a board meeting this morning, no doubt in executive session. I saw them headed to the board room about 8 am. GM in tow!

I am anxiously and optimistically anticipating that we will soon be receiving an email blast announcing that the libraries will not be closed?

    Keep your fingers crossed.

STATEMENT FROM RCSC BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Normal business procedure requires RCSC Management to review all contracts prior to renewal.

The Board has directed management to extend the current libraries (Bell & Fairway) lease for 1 year.

This will allow the Board and Management to evaluate the terms of the current lease as is done with all leases.

We have heard member opinions and recognize your concerns. We will keep you informed of any changes.

I think it would still be a wise thing to do to show-up in mass at the Exchange and let them know what a disappointment this whole fiasco had become.

    And wear Blue!

  19. This sounds like normal cover your ass language. The “normal business procedure” tells me that there is no by-law and certainly no policy on leases. Looks like something else is going to be dumped on Budget & Finance, so take a ticket and go to the and of the line. Still think there is no answer to how the vacant space was to be used. Talk about a giant shit sandwich.
