Now I know why Candace missed the Forums…

I originally asked: “Candace Ruggerio did NOT participate in either Forum. Any explanation?”
Received information in this thread explaining she had Covid, to which I replied that I was glad she has recovered.

Did you miss her statement at the last Board Meeting that she had COVID and just received her first negative test? It's bad enough that she was present for one Board Meeting while positive and it's good that she didn't continue to mingle unmasked at the candidate forums or Board Meetings while contagious.

Too bad that they didn't attempt to Zoom with her; she could have answered the same questions as everyone. But perhaps RCSC doesn't have the capability to Zoom!

Thanks, wasn’t at the meeting and must have missed it when viewing online. Glad she’s recovered.

Believe it or not RCSC does have the capabilities to zoom, sometimes.

Having been in contact with Candy while she was out ill and with her permission I can tell you she was too ill at the time of the forums to even be able to participate via zoom. She did attend BOD meetings prior to becoming ill, at least two that I know of off the top of my head. As a nurse I would much rather see her get healthy than worry about people criticizing her for not attending a meeting. Have we no compassion left in us at all people? She had a documented positive covid diagnosis seems like that deserves some compassion. So glad to hear you have your eyes open for all of this. ;):)

I'm not sure where i read into anyone's statement a "lack of compassion" Stella. There was a candidate missing in action and no comments regarding why. Now that we know, i saw at least two comments wishing her well. On the other hand, we saw a candidate with the appropriate number of signatures flushed for missing a "mandatory" meeting and from my vantage point, the board being delighted to tell her to pound salt. I've been through the process and if any meetings should be mandatory, it would be the candidate forums. It's our one chance to peak under the covers and get a better look beyond the printed materials and the corny 2 minute video.

I know it sounds trite, but this may be the most important election we have had in years. 2022 will be the first time in a long time we have an opportunity to reverse the disaster of the past 15 years. There-in is my problem with several of the candidates running. Because if you simply believe that it is okay to let the RCSC management make all the decisions, then all we are doing is following in the footsteps of the past 15 years. Based on what has been said, i'm not sure where you stand. When candidates get up and proclaim what a great job the board or management has done, i cringe.

I would be delighted if every candidate was interested in how we morphed into what we have become. The first 45 years it was all about the community. The last 15 years, it has been all about the RCSC. That wasn't an accident, it was designed that way. The gm took the liberty of rewriting documents to create a structure where she controlled everything. There's a reason it was never called the RCSC's Sun City...it never belonged to them and it never should.

We, the voters, have no idea what Candy believes in, what she will fight for or against. Staying in the election only dilutes the pool of candidates who may work for the changes we so desperately need. When Lori E continued to harp on the fact they booted her, i told her there's always next year, let it go. If it were up to me, and it's not, Candace should have been told, there's always next year. She wasn't, but she is asking for vote and we know virtually nothing about her.

I will ask this again and please somebody to give me an answer where are candidates allowed to post there bios? Can they be posted at department stores can they be posted at McDonald's canopy posted at car washes can you be posted at gas stations can be posted at the Maricopa county jail or do they have to be posted on rcsc property only all I'm asking for is an answer please thank you!

I've not researched this question - my answer is just my guess -
I don't think it's "written in stone" in Corporate Documents or Policies just where they can post their bio. The RCSC posts on the website, it's written in SunViews and the Sun City Independent. I'm guessing that they can post it wherever they darn well please.
Stella is now an online member who is reading these comments; maybe she can answer your question.
    Stella?

I'm not sure why or what you are looking for say what? All candidates are allowed to put their flyers in the rec centers, Why they would want them at McDonald's or any non-RCSC establishment is beyond me. Every candidate is able to place them where potential voters may go.

Unlike Members who can't do jack-squat without the blessing of the RCSC or Board!

    THINGS HAVE TO CHANGE!

As Bill has stated, candidates are allowed to post flyers, with the permission of the property owners, at various locations in SC including the Rec Ctrs. However to post flyers/candidate information in a club with designated space they must first get the permission of the club president.

Stella, are you saying the club president decides what flyers go in club rooms? Seems to me if they are choosing who to support it should be the membership of the club or at the very least the club's board. For years the story has been the Sundial Men's club and the golf associations pretty much tell their members who to vote for to determine who gets elected. That's worked out well for the golfers, that's why we have $5 rounds of golf. Is that a conflict of interest?

Stella I guess you know how to game the system since you have flyers all over the place including Restaurants in Sun City, grocery store bulletin boards George's Cafe. Stella, you are the reason I asked this question. Your fliers are everywhere including not being on RCSC property. It must be a very important reason you're trying so hard to get elected. I hope it's for the MEMBERS you're trying so hard and not for for the clan that you were a part of before. Unfortunately, I cannot trust what you say you represent as we have seen your actions.

I had no clue where you were going with this SW. Putting flyers everywhere isn't troubling to me; only allowing certain candidates would be. My guess is most of the candidates didn't go try and put them everywhere. I would be especially troubled if a club president allowed it for one/some and not others.

I know 3 of the candidates i will be voting for. The 4th is questionable. I would have loved to see candidates sign in here and try and have a legitimate discussion about the future. Hell, even during the candidate forums several of them walked the line. The tight rope they walk trying to stay aligned with management and existing board members yet still try and straddle the line to draw in those of us unhappy with the board and gm's performance is unsettling.

I always find myself at odds with those who have drank the gm's koolaid regarding the "undivided loyalty to the corporation." It was simply an aggressive action by her to move the RCSC to the front of the line and push the community to the back. The unwillingness to address that is frustrating. I had a board member who shall go nameless walk by after the following board meeting as i was chatting with the director of golf and the new GM; her snarky comment was why are you even bothering to talk to him? She suggested i had no idea what i was talking about and then went scurrying away. As i am want to do, i shouted she stay and have an adult-like conversation and we could see who knows what they are talking about but she elected to hurry away. I guess her 30 years as a gym teacher didn't adequately equip her to talk about issues. See, i stayed nameless.

I would invite any board member, any potential candidate, any existing RCSC member of management to have a cup of coffee with myself and Ben so we could talk about our history, talk about how we evolved and more importantly, talk about the pitfalls we face as a community. I'll even buy the coffee. Any takers?
