How will the following newspaper article effect condo associations?

    EPCOR customers get rate relief
By Rebecca Stenholm Special to Independent Newsmedia More than 57,000 EPCOR wastewater customers will receive more than $1.1 million in federal corporate tax cut savings, reducing the amount of their.......

In all likelihood it won't give you any direct relief peg. Because you don't pay a water bill directly, you won't see anything. Your condo association will see a reduction in the amount they pay monthly. There's a one time credit of $7.56 in July and a monthly credit of $1.26 thereafter that single family home owners will see. The net for condo owners is a slight reduction as a whole that may lower your monthly increase next year. This is all because of the lower tax rate passed by republicans earlier this year. You can read the article here.

I'll save up my $1.26s for when the next inevitable recession hits from the fallout of the new tax plan. History.

Very important vote coming up for Arizona Corporation Commission. Currently they are cozy with APS.

Thanks for the article 5th. Damn shameful of how the dark money game has been played to screw us all. Unfortunately in AZ most people look only at party designation with little or no regard to understanding the positions candidates have taken on these matters that impact our pocketbooks. If you haven't read the article, take a few minutes and do so. Eye opening for sure.

Had to scoot off to the board meeting today, but this is one of those topics that gets my blood boiling. The ACC was one of the bright spots in an abysmal state of state politics in Arizona. They were put in place to control costs foisted on the public by providers selling us our utilities. If you read the article posted by 5th, you can follow when all that began to change. There's no way to mask it, dark money became thee tool for the utilities to buy commissioners who would in turn give them the votes needed to charge whatever they wanted. And what they wanted was a guaranteed rate of return with absolutely no downside. What crap.

I'm in the middle of John McCain's book The Restless Wave and i have to say, it is a great read. He is a rare breed who was willing to put country ahead of politics and when we lose him, the country will be lessor with him gone. Little surprise his position on dark money and the harm it has and will cost this country as we go forward. Love to see him hang on, but alas, i fear his end is coming way too soon.

I've used the term before, and i will do so again; synchronicity. It's just bizarre as i went off to work out at the Bell rec center, climbed on the upright bike and began reading the page i had left off from the day before of the McCain book. Prior to that i had posted the above piece because i knew he was opposed to dark money. Imagine my shock when i read this excerpt from page 200, seconds after sitting on the bike: "There are a lot of government responsibilities that have been needed to be reformed for years, especially one of my pet peeves, our broken government acquisition system. I believe the same can be said about the rules of contemporary politics, the way redistricting is done in most of the country, and the explosion of dark money in campaigns, an invitation made by the Supreme Court's decision in the Citizen's United case, a mistake made by five justices who never ran for any office and were more naive than a cloistered nun about the corrupting effect of unlimited money in politics. I believe in the separation of powers, a press free to report without fear or favor, and free to infuriate politicians-including me-as they do. Lastly i believe in principled compromises that move the country forward, goodwill toward Man, and empirical facts."

Before you gloss over this, think about what he said regarding dark money and what has happened with the ACC. What he said about the Supreme Court and the Citizen's United case. And finally, the recent decision made by the Supreme Court and the gerrymandering going on where politicians shape districts to insure they are unbeatable. It's shameful and McCain's entire book is quick to the point on what is happening within our borders. He knows he is at or near the end and this book appears to be an effort to try and right whatever wrongs he made and to push those elected officials to be more than shills working to get re-elected at whatever cost to the country and those of us who depend on them to do the right thing.

Sorry for the political rants, but the ACC is nothing more than a microcosm of everything that is wrong in our society.

It's unfortunate that most politicians only try (if ever) to right their wrongs when they are no longer up for re-election.
