We wanted to thank Cynthia for reporting a post this week that looked like possible spam. We banned the user account as we confirmed the IP address was India. No harm to the site or any accounts. We also blocked the IP address as well.

Thanks for using the report a post feature. It is the triangle below the user name on the post.

    Regards

    Admin

Just a question to Admin -- Is the TOSC a secure site or can anyone view what is posted ---
even if they are not a member ?

Appreciate Cynthia and her report regarding that post she found ! BRAVO !

You do not have to be a registered member to view the posts, but you cannot participate and have limited access to other features of the site.

Appreciate the info, Admin. re: viewing posts.

    Thank You for the info.
AND is there away that us members can actually BLOCK our posts from the non-members
    ( Non-Members to view them) ?
    Thank You .

Anita Mae we are not aware of a way to do that with the software that is running the site. It would probably involve some extensive custom coding to make that happen.

The problem with private forums where only members can read the posts is that many people want to read through the posts before deciding that a message board suits them.....I belong to one private board and not only does it limit the membership but it is a lot of work for the admin to approve all membership applications.

As long as those who post understand that you never put private information about yourself or anyone else on a public board your anonymity is pretty secure. Keep any personal info to private messages with other posters.

I agree, those private forum will attract many less people and too much hassle. Not good for something like this where you want more people. I always look at the previous posts of a person who I don't know before I click on a link. If that's the only post, especially if it sounds weird, it's suspect to be spam. Better to report it and let the Admin look at it first.

Since it's just showing our posts and username not our registration info, sounds fine to me since it gets Sun City's name and its features "out there" which is what we are trying to do. But it helps reminding individuals who may not know to choose a masked username if they don't want their name "out there," and that real name users are reminded to be extra cautious about what they share.

    Excellent Advice regarding privacy issue.

Great Advice SCJack ... agree not to use your real name... and also to be careful of what is posted.
And agree.. this TOSC site is a great way to get Sun City acknowledged as a fine retirement community.

We agree not to use your real name and we also suggest not putting your email or phone number in a post. If you want to send a message do it via private messaging. The information you use is private and we do not share with anyone.
