I thought I'd bring this thread back to the front to encourage people to check out the latest Posse information. The general meeting is the first Tuesday of the month and the website is usually updated around the same time. It's updated other times during the month for news/events. There's much valuable information about upcoming events and services provided by the posse.

I would love to see the Posse post the number of calls they go on and the number of volunteer hours each month much like the Fire Department posts their calls on their site. Sun City Posse does so much behind the scenes. Donations to the Posse can be made in any amount and any time during the year.

Thank you for all you do!!

I volunteer at the Posse - Front desk.

Late Spring is busy with snowbirds bringing in their Vacation Watch cards.
Early Fall is also busy. That's when snowbirds return and let the
    Posse know they are back.

Vacation Watch is also good for short times away from Sun City.

I have experienced a variety of questions. Some very unique.

People are always telling me how much they appreciate the Posse.

The Posse is Here for You

The Sheriff’s Posse of Sun City is a community service organization consisting of about 140 volunteers. Although we wear the same uniform and drive a vehicle that looks the same as that of a sworn sheriff’s deputy, we have no enforcement authority. Our presence acts as a “force multiplier” for the Sheriff’s office. There are more trained eyes and ears and more marked police vehicles on the streets of Sun City than just about any other community of this population. Real police officers often tell us that we get to do the things that they would like to do if they had the time.
In 2014, our members volunteered 75,000 hours and drove our 14 vehicles 186,000 miles patrolling the streets of Sun City. We responded with the Sun City Fire Department to 5,118 medical calls and 170 fire calls. We assisted the fire department and Sheriff’s deputies at 530 vehicle accidents.
Family members or concerned neighbors frequently ask us to check on the welfare of a resident. We check with neighbors and all hospitals to determine the status of the subject, and, if necessary, call on the Sheriff’s department to resolve the issue. In 2014, we were involved in 382 of these welfare checks. Our Vacation Watch program checked on over 3,000 houses for people on vacation.
We act as a community resource for almost any type of question. Our philosophy is that if you are concerned enough to call us, we are concerned enough to send a patrol car to help you in any way we can. We will jump start a car with a dead battery, remove a dead coyote from your yard, direct traffic at your church rummage sale or a concert at the Sunbowl, and call you in the evening if we notice that you have left your garage door open after dark. In 2014 we handled 15,364 total calls.
In order to accomplish many of these services, it is important for us to be able to contact you, or your representative, when we need to. The Posse maintains a database containing contact information for most Sun City residents. If you would like to be included on this list, or you need to update your current information, you will need to complete one of our yellow Emergency Response cards. These can be obtained at Posse headquarters, the Sun City Homeowners Association office, or any Recreation Centers of Sun City facility.

The Posse receives no funding from any government entity. Our only source of income comes from the gratitude and generosity of the people of Sun City.
If you would like to know more about our organization, or think you would like to become a part of it, call our office at 623-972-2555, or stop by our headquarters at 10861 Sunland Drive in Sun City. Our website (www.suncityposse.org) contains a wealth of information about who we are and what we do.

My parents were very involved with the Posse. Dad was 18 year member and past commander. Even in 110 degree weather or pouring down rain the Posse is out there checking homes, directing traffic or aiding drivers. Give them a smile, thumbs up or a thank you when you see them out on patrol!

What was happening on Boswell just north of Prairie Hills today, June 8, 2015, about 1:30?
There was a fire engine and a Posse car. Both had flashing lights.
