Thanks for posting. I was just thinking I should start looking. Driving around the area, there looks to be one dentist per every ten residents.

When I first moved to SC, I went to a dentist on my dental plan.
He sold his practice to another dentist but did not notify me. Bad move. I did not like the new dentist.

Then I went to a dental place (83rd & Union Hills). Each time I went there, it was a different dentist.
One dentist wanted to remove all amalgamated fillings. I said. NO. Another dentist wanted to do deep gum cleaning.
Again, I said NO. Another dentist gave me a crown which on retrospect I do not think was necessary.

I now go to a very nice lady dentist on Coggins/103 and would be happy to share her name.

Interesting to read these comments about dentists. I've found the same thing for the 12 years we've lived here. They have progressively gotten more expensive and less trustworthy. Hate to say that, but with the advent of implants, they almost insist on doing work above and beyond.

I've had some experience with health care plans and anytime I find them wanting to do work outside of the u and c (usual and customary), I get angry and frustrated. I won't relive the past three months, but my dentist was doing an evaluation of work to do and quickly had the bill up over $10,000 before I could even spit. Suffice to say I haven't been back.

A good friend was telling me over coffee how his medical doctor was bemoaning the entire dental practice. He claimed implants have become a license to steal. One only has to look at dentists and their 4 day work week to see just how lucrative this profession has become.

Little wonder people are going across the boarder and getting work done at a fraction of the cost.

Following my cataract surgery in October, I got an overpayment check for over $1,000.
It did not specify why and I didn't ask!!

I might need dental work that my lady dentist does not do.
So I took a look at Fox and will probably go to him.

Got it. Explanation of Benefits. Do you have to request it or is it given automatically?
How can I tell if it is a "clean" claim and "coded properly"?

Up early to go to funeral of oldest son who died last week. Only 50 years old.
