Welcome. I have a condo in Sun City but don't live there yet. I am a year too young and am waiting to retire from my job. I love where my condo is and have the best neighbors.

You might consider taking the Sun City Visitor Center Bus Tour.
Information to sign up is at the link in previous post.

Aloha! I'm Lin, my escrow just closed yesterday on a little two bedroom in Sun City, Phoenix. I'm currently living in Kea'au on the Big Island of Hawaii, have been here 11 years. I'm out in a remote part of the rain forest, and it's been fun but I'm tired of being a pioneer now, want an easier life with people and shopping and city water. It's going to take me a little while to get my ducks in a row and get out of here but I'm aiming for SC by November. I've studied the map and Google Street View until I feel like I've been there already (never have), can't wait!

Welcome Lin to the forum. I close on my Sun City home in a few days but won't be moving to Sun City for a few years. I hope to hear about your pioneer life someday...I bet you have good stories to tell.

BTW, I studied & drove Sun City on Google maps about a year before I actually went there. My biggest surprise was that it looked smaller on Google than in person. It's bigger than I had expected it to be.

Thanks for the welcome Cynthia and Emily. I bought, I guess, a condo - I would call it a row house. There are five houses in the unit, set far back from the street with a paved alley in the back for carport/patio access. I'm in the middle, not an end unit. Looks perfect to me. I'm on one of the busier roads but doubt it'll be a problem since there doesn't seem to be much reason to ever go out the front door with carport, mail, patio, everything in back. I will be selling my 4WD truck, doesn't seem worthwhile to ship it back to the mainland, so will need to find a small used car shortly after I get there, leaning towards hatchback, no golf cart for me, want A/C in my vehicle. I'm getting so excited, have to keep reminding myself I've miles to go here before I can actually move. Wish I could just twitch my nose or beam myself there but making this place as saleable as possible and beating back the jungle are first priorities. Best go work on some of that now. :) Aloha!

Congrats LW, you made a great choice. It doesn't get any better than the original Sun City.

Welcome and hurry up and sell your stuff. There's a thread here somewhere on shipping things you don't need...so do take heed.

    Aloha Lin,

Ho'omaika'i 'ana on your purchase. We are planning to buy in Sun City in a few years if all goes as planned. We have been there to visit a few times and are looking forward to retirement there.
Wow, Kea'au is a bit primitive and quite different than Sun City... no jungle in SC, but it sounds like you are ready for the change. I suspect you will love it.

    Malama pono, a hui hou.
