On 107th and Grand where the panhandlers are and all their belongs at the donation boxes is a total eyesore next to Starbucks. I would think that the Proprietor of Starbuck would do something and maybe they are as well as the owners of the strip mall? These panhandlers are so bold as to have a cardboard sign near the donation boxes saying that the 2 carts also there are not donations. I will be calling the Sheriff to see what we can do. This is getting worse and not good for Sun City. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you....Yes, I believe panhandling is legal but Sun City needs to do something to change that. Clint Hickman, County Supervisor is another individual I will be talking with.
Stopped at the light the other day in my golf car and one of the drivers in front of me started hollering at the panhandler. Suddenly they were going at it pretty good with the panhandler suggesting the driver should get out of his car. Tacky on all parts, and my suggestion is to ignore them. If folks stop giving them money, they simply will leave.
I agree about refusing to give money to these people so as not to encourage them continuing their begging in the median. They do cause a distraction which is also a bit intimidating if you are stuck in the turn lane with them staring in the window. There is also trash near their "staging area" when they leave. Another way to voice concern is to go to MCSO website and fill out the online comment form. The address is: Maricopa County Sheriff's Office
