Turning off neighbors water is trespassing

I listened to the candidate forum today. A discussion started from a question about saving water. One candidate stated that overflowing water is usually from unoccupied houses and he has gone up to homes and shut off the water when he sees it. That is trespassing and I wonder why a person with a law inforcement history thinks that is lawful. Keep your hands to yourself.

I put in a new landscape controller. The guy who installed it stopped by to check on it a few weeks later. Someone had obviously walked to back of my house and shut off my landscape controller. I couldn't figure out how that had happened. Now i know. Some people think they have a right to do this. I did have a trickle of water overflowing a brick which was corrected. But shutting off the system of someone's property is wrong. You seriously want to kill all of my trees? If there is a big problem (mine was a small trickle running into the street) there are ways to contact a resident.

I was also surprised at the comment. It would have been much better if he had added "and then contacted the homeowner, neighbor or emergency contact to advise them of the problem". The Sun City Posse has an Emergency Contact Card that can be filled out and kept on file at their office. In the case of emergency at the home they will call these contact numbers to make sure the owner(or next of kin) is aware of an important issue.

A water leak at an unoccupied home should be reported to Epcor @ 1-800-383-0834. They will send someone to turn off the water and contact the homeowner, even if they are out of state.

Yes and I have those cards completed, a lock box, monthly landscaping...most everything I can do to makes things right. I even have security cameras but unfortunately mine failed that month so I couldn’t see the culprit.

Needless to say Robert Wheat will not get my vote. To me he’s*shown how he (doesn’t) care about all residents.

I did not have a leak and that’s not what he was talking about. He was talking about intermittent landscaping/sprinkler over flow.*
