I've seen several of the Posse vehicles. They don't have their new logo on the doors yet. The vehicles are owned by the Posse but the light bars have been removed. The only identification is a simple "Sun City Posse" in yellow block letters. They look to me like under-cover MCSO Units so from a distance they'll still be a deterrent. Give them some time to get them completed. They have still been out on the roads and as busy as usual. Calls have continued to be answered for welfare checks, vacation checks, backing up fire & medical calls and many security checks of churches, RCSC Centers and businesses. Thank you Posse!
The POSSE has served this community for a very long time. I think the vacation watch is really important, and everything else they do is an added bonus. Only a fool would suggest the loss of the look of a sheriffs car won't have an impact on us. The Sheriff's presence in this community is limited and for outsiders driving through, they never knew if what they saw was the real deal or not. When i saw the first car the other day it was a shock; it reminded me of the security folks sitting around watching work being done in back yards as opposed to people protecting us. Clearly a logo with more prominence will help. The reality is they had no choice; if they stayed where they were, they would be gone within years.
This is the logo pictured on the Sun City Posse website. I agree the MCSO has to step up and do more for our residents. We have always been lacking in regular patrols but the response time for critical needs has been good.
