Sun City Posse Donation Letter

    We haven't received our letter yet but will send in our check as soon as it does arrive. I can't ever remember another form of fund raising for the SC Posse so it is so important that residents respond to this request for donations.

    My parents were both in the SC Posse for over 15 years and my dad was even a past commander. The 9 month rule was in effect because the SC Posse wanted to insure there were enough members on patrol through the summer months to do the mountain of vacation checks. My dad would fly back for two weeks in the summer from MN just to do his required shifts and attend the monthly Board meeting. This dedication is so true for many of the SC Posse volunteers. The SC Posse is in transition which means additional costs to remove any reference to "MCSO" on cars, paperwork, uniforms etc. They really need our support to make this a successful venture.

    Now it is time for the MCSO to step up and give us more patrol coverage. We'll have to wait and see if we get it.

    I am torn about them splitting from the MSCO. It was my understanding the cars came fro them, along with other support. For sure, we all need to step up and keep them functioning, they do a great job and provide a wonderful service to our community.

    I'm pretty sure that the SC Posse purchases their vehicles out of donated funds. It may be that they order them at a fleet price comparable to what the MCSC does but the money comes out of the SC Posse checkbook.

    For some reason i thought they bought their cars used from the County Sheriff.

    I think the best thing about the move is it should be easier to recruit new POSSE members.

    Posse cars are purchased new using money donated by the people of Sun City. All Posse vehicles, buildings, equipment, and uniforms are purchased and owned by the Posse using donated funds.

    Geez E, $10 for the year from everyone would be an awesome number and you know anyone getting 20% returns from mail out fund raisers would think they died and went to heaven.

    Great information at the SCHOA meeting the other day on the POSSE. The crap started in 2014 when the courts started to push far reaching restrictions on what needed to become a POSSE member. The presenter said there was a 26 page application form along with high school transcripts. That was followed by endless trips to downtown Phoenix and long training sessions there that just plain drove folks from applying.

    If you haven't donated to the POSSE yet, you need do that this week.

    I still haven't received my letter.....:concern: I'll stop by the Posse if it doesn't arrive in the next week or so.

    They must mail them out in batches, way labor intensive and i'm sure all work done by volunteers...don't you think?

    Everything the Posse does is done by volunteers.

    Even more reason to get that donation in and keep them alive and well inn Sun City.
