Carol, Ida and Rich are all leaving the board after filling 3 year terms. Word was Carol was going to run again but must have changed her mind. For anyone interested, i would encourage you to attend one or both of the candidate forums, or at least watch them once they are posted. That will give you a chance to get an inside look at where the candidates are coming from.

All 5 of the candidates were at the Member/Exchange meeting Monday morning...that was good to see.

For those of you haven't had a chance to vote before in the RCSC election, this slate of 5 looks pretty solid. Try and get to one of the forums where they answer your questions.

It really benefited the candidates to be able to watch last year's forums to prepare for this event. I hope voters wait to attend or watch the November 14th forum at Marinette before casting their votes. Remember....there are 5 candidates running for 3 seats. You can vote for 1, 2 or 3 candidates. There are 2- 3 year terms and lowest vote-getter will get the 2 year term as long as they receive at least 100 votes.

Actually Aggie there are THREE three year terms. Everyone gets the same thing this year.

I strongly encourage you to watch the candidate forum now posted. I was there and saw and heard some things that appealed to me, and some things that were a turnoff. Everyone almost always has an impressive resume and solid goals; the bigger reveal is when they have to answer unscripted questions on the fly.

Thanks for clearing that up Rich. The candidate still must receive at least 100 votes to be elected.

Yet another quirk that makes little sense.

Reminder: Tonight's the 2nd and final Candidate Forum to be held at Marinette Rec Center 6:30-8:30. Online voting has begun but it's best to either attend the Forum or wait to watch it on youtube as soon as it's posted before casting your vote.

What happens if one or more do not have 100 votes?

I'm sure 3 of the 5 candidates will received enough votes. Here's the section of the Corporation Bylaws that covers election of directors: SECTION 5: LENGTH OF TERMS AND VACANCIES

The term of office for an elected Director shall be three (3) years. At the annual election, three (3) Directors shall be elected. One, two or three-year elected terms enter into the six (6) year limit set forth in the Restated Articles of Incorporation.

In the event more than three (3) vacancies exist as of the deadline for turning in the petitions, those vacancies shall also be filled at the annual election as follows:

    (i) The candidate receiving the highest number of votes, after the three (3) three-year terms are filled, shall fill the next longest vacant term.
(ii) If a candidate is elected to a Board position and, prior to the beginning date of the term for which he/she has been elected, declines or is unable to assume the office (“declining candidate”), then the term of the declining candidate(s) shall be filled with the unsuccessful candidate(s) receiving the next highest number of votes, based on the vote totals of the candidates in the last annual Directors’ election. A candidate receiving less than one hundred (100) votes shall not be eligible to fill any vacancies.
(iii) The Balloting Committee (hereinafter referred to as the “Election Committee”) will determine the order of placement in the event of a tie vote. The method shall be a simple drawing of the names of the candidates involved in the tie vote.
(iv) Vacancies occurring on the Board during the year (January 1 through December 31) may be filled by appointment of the Board. A majority vote of the Board is required for said appointment. An appointment ends on December 31 of the year appointed. An appointed term does not enter in the six-year limit set forth in the Restated Articles of Incorporation.
