Nothing funny about that idea E, i've suggested that a couple of board members already. Of course a lot depends on the cost; but the potential is almost unlimited. Because it's already sectioned off in wings and room, a portion of it could become Play and Stay rooms for potential buyers.

The problem is there is no long range planning committee to work through some kind of goal/solution structure to our future. And of course with all the money we've thrown at golf courses, the other stuff just sits in limbo.

    Too bad eh?

Bummer, that building has been sold to short term eating disorder clinic.

They should just let people starve themselves into oblivion or eat themselves into oblivion.

Sorry to be so cruel but people should start taking charge of their lives and not become dependent on others to do so.
Eat or don't eat. It's your choice.

Reminds me of "they just need to snap out of it" being said about many mental illness in earlier times. Disorders are not easily understood by those who do not have them.

No crazier than 40 million on golf. OK I just had to say it.

Dang, remember this thread? That building still sits empty. Such a shame.

You'd better keep your spending wishes quiet for a while BP or they will never let you on the long range planning commitee.

It doesn't make up for the loss of the great location of the old Lakes Club we used to talk about turning into a hub for Sun City, but I'd be for it. Like Bill said, a "Stay and Play" would be so cool--also, how nice for some folks to be able to put up relatives and friends within Sun City when they come for a visit rather than have to ship them off to other cities--money generating ideas excite me the most and that can be one of them--also never understood why RCSC doesn't run a real restaurant rather than rent out space to them.
Anyway, like*Emily said, it has lots of possibilities and moving administrative stuff might be one of them. Then we could revision Lakeview and maybe have the "community living room" we discussed on earlier threads--the hub of a hang out like the Student Unions of our college days, but classed up and all grown up like other places have and Emily, yeah, like you said, "Put in a nice restaurant like the one that Festival has with a bar and a coffee/ice cream shop."*

SC does lack a centralized hang-out. Yes, it would need a coffee/ice cream/restaurant place to attract people.

Damn SCJ, don't get me drooling over what could have been. When i went to the board i saw so many possibilities, only to find all golf/all the time was the only game in town; having absolutely no chance to have an open and realistic discussion about what Sun City needed to move to the next level.

The Lakes Club would have given us that gathering place and tons of space and the building on Thunderbird and 111th would have made an unbelievable play and stay. Instead we spend fortunes on golf and have golfers moaning about the courses. Go figure.

There just isn't any interest or push from anyone on the board as far as i know.

No idea, i suspect tax records at the county would show us that.

I don't want to be sued for defamation or something similar, but I think this property is currently going through bankruptcy court. It may take a long time for anything to happen.

Interesting, heck that may make it even easier to buy. Better to have an asset in hand for the bankruptcy.
