After living in a single-family house in the AZ Sun Cities for 15 years, we no longer need a large house and yard. We are searching for the right Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) that offers independent, assisted living (AL), skilled nursing and memory care in one location. In addition to CCRCs, we have looked at some attractive rental places for independent living that include one meal a day, fitness classes, a small outdoor pool, limited housekeeping and transportation to local medical appointments. All have pros and cons and are expensive. However, we do not have any family in Arizona to help us out as we age. Is anyone else in this forum at this stage? If yes, could we share information on what we have learned?
I will be watching this post for information because I too am looking at my future needs. And, yes, from what I have seen/read, lifecare is expensive.
