This Forum is so helpful, and I'm grateful for everyone's input. Could you tell me, please, what is a "walking pool"?

A "Walking Pool" is just that. No swimming or diving allowed.
It ranges from about 3ft to 4ft.
Many people wear pool shoes. I don't.

Most of the pools (7 I think) have a walking area.

There are excercise classes in the theraputic indoor pool at Sun Dial Recreation Center.
There is an aerobic 6 week class for about $15.
The Handicapables Club ($15/year which includes classes - great bargain) has a class on Tuesday & Thursday.
The first one is from 12-1 and the second is from 1-2.
I go to the 12-1 class. I also go with friends on Saturday.
There are not any classes during the month of August

for lots of information about walking pools.

Planning to be in Arizona with a tour, then a few extra days in Phoenix to check things out. Do I need a car to investigate Sun City ?

The Sun City Visitor Center has a bus that takes people on a tour of SC.
It goes to all the Rec Centers and you go into a few of them.
It drives by the Sheriff Posse building and other places.
I think it is about 2 hours.

Goggle Sun City Visitor Center for more info.

I will be back volunteering there in September.

The tour starts at the Visitor Center.
Be sure to go in there for lots of free literature.

Thank you. Is there public transportation to the Visitor Center?

I don't think there is public transportation to Visitor Center.
You might google "transportation in Sun City, AZ".

Thank you! A problem for me -- no weekend hours?

Sorry. The Visitor Center is not open weekends.
I think I will bring that up to the administrator.

Go to the Sun City Visitor Center Webpage
    http://www.suncityaz.org/

Scroll down a bit and Click on Tours of Sun City.
Right now they have August & September.
Next week, they just might have October.

You can signup online for a tour.

Is the Visitor Center open on days when tours are not offered? The Saturday I'll be in town is not a tour day. Thanks!

I just checked the Visitor Center web page.

Saturday, October 25, 2014, has a tour scheduled.
That makes me think that Saturday tours ARE available.
Send them an email and mention the date you would like.

In the meantime, I will ask next Wednesday when I am there.
