When I went to Festival, I was impressed with the way their restaurant was set up. Gorgeous views of golf course and bar off to the side. Didn't have a chance to order anything, but wondering if there is a specialty or how the residents like their on-premises eatery....

I'm hungry NOW! lol. Seriously, there are some things that should be fast-tracked for the good of the community since they lay the groundwork for other projects and a real community watering hole hang-out is one of them since it fosters the camaraderie that can lead to a more engaged community. We shall see.... hope I can make more board mtgs since that seems the best way to get something at least considered.

Has anyone eaten at Chang Lee Restaurant in Sun City?
    Thunderbird & 99th behind CVS.

Yep to Chang Lee. Nothing special but like the unchanged ambiance of local Chinese restaurant and small bar. Very sorry the outside was ruined with the shopping center's modernization--looks sterile and uninviting, but guess the docs that own the center just wanted an upscale modern look for their office and everything else had to fall in line. They also removed the historic turquoise-colored thunderbird signs that were on either end and made it clear that it was T-bird plaza and created a local feel. Now they just have a boring list of tenants that is unreadable as you drive by and has no aesthetic appeal. Shame. Speaking of local Chinese eateries, China Olive on Grand near 103rd has quite the buffet, although doesn't top Pacific by Arrowhead.

I just looked at the menu at the Grille.
    Prices are very reasonable.

I would have loved to see that turquoise sign still in place and the original building. Sadly too often owners of the strip malls just smack a generic stucco look on the buildings, which ruin them in my opinion, instead of embracing a little mid century history. There are other designs they could have approached with a modern twist that would have been more attractive. I still say Sun City could use an architectural review board....sigh....with a real architect on it...lol. Just my opinion...

Back on subject. We ate at a little hole in the wall Mexican spot down on 35th (close to that) and bell in a strip mall and I can't remember the name of it but it was fantastic. Tues is old people day and you get a toofer, two for one. I will find the name and post it.

    Ok. Remembered...Vala Luna.

But with us being unincorporated and without a mayor, council, etc., I guess it can't happen....
