Beginning in the Email Blast of April 21- 28, and in the May Sun City AZ Update, RCSC has communicated this nugget:

Wednesday, May 22 at 6pm: Survey Says … Family Feud-style Game Night - Sundial Auditorium. Free for RCSC Members/Cardholders & their escorted guests. Be prepared to show your RCSC photo ID card for entry; no key fobs accepted. Doors Open at 5pm

Today is Tuesday, May 21st. I have been waiting patiently to find out more information about this event. Yes, I could probably call the Corporate Office or the Activities office (formerly Events and Entertainment), but there has been ample opportunity to give all members more information.

    · Who will be playing?
    · Who selected the teams?
    · Could I have entered my name to play?
    · Who is the host?
    · Doors open at 5; does that mean we can bring a picnic supper/snacks like we can when bands play?
    · Will the tables be set up like they are for bands?
    · How long is the show going to last?
    · Are there prizes?

Why does RCSC have such a hard time with communication?

Surprise party? Lack of communication. Hmmm. RCSC office told neighbor to get a lawyer when S/O died. I had to call to get the paperwork for card refund. RCSC told same neighbor they could not help with sign on to view t-times. I called, they gave me all his info (a land line from 2002 or so and email from same time) Neither exist. Explained issue, asked for help and they said I guess he will have to call the golf course pro shop every time. I have learned an awful lot about Sun City in the last 5 months since becoming his designated MPOA/POA. It's not easy being alone and old here.

Replying to my own comment - Why does RCSC have such a hard time with communication?

For this and other communication concerns, as far as I know, the only way we, as members, have to address this issue is to email all of our Board of Directors (yes, each one hoping that one reads it) and let them know our concerns. Hopefully, they will alert the GM that they have received emails about the issue. According to the bylaws, the only employee that the Board has is the GM. The Board is not supposed to take issues of any kind directly to staff.
Shall we all write some emails today? Board members email addresses: first initial, last name @suncityaz.org For example, kfimmel@suncityaz.org; kmcadam@suncityaz.org
scollins; tfoster; chettesheim; aborski; crichtmyre; jrough; pkise

Is this for issues like my friend's as well? If so I am in. I have names/dates/times. He's 82 and should not have been treated like that.

I 100% agree clear communication is something we (RCSC Management, Members and Board members) can improve on. Maybe I wasn't paying attention before but I found the RCSC week blast easier to work with. I also appreciate that we are trying something new. Who knows it may catch on.

No. In my opinion, the situation that you are describing is one from the past and much more serious. Anything regarding membership issues should be addressed in person with Card Services at Lakeview.

    Prompt reply from Mr. Dirmyer:
(Excerpt from email inquiry to him.)
A member of a Sun City social media site asks:

“· Who will be playing? The entire audience plays along so any member and their escorted guests.

    · Who selected the teams? People can come with a team of 8 and select their own table or people can come and join in where space is available to form a team of 8.

    · Could I have entered my name to play?It is a just show up event.

    · Who is the host? The company hosting the event is Bar Game Show Productions

    · Doors open at 5; does that mean we can bring a picnic supper/snacks like we can when bands play? That is correct.

    · Will the tables be set up like they are for bands? No, they are in groups of 8 people per table.

    · How long is the show going to last?Approximately 90 – 120 minutes

    · Are there prizes? Yes

Why can't this be communicated to all members? I don't get it!

You've posted about this quite a bit. If he isn't a spouse, why would he get a refund?

Yes, be sure to let the Directors know the difficulties you and your friend have had. With an older population, RCSC has surely found themselves in this situation before so the staff should be properly trained, evaluated and disciplined if needed.

Thanks. He was there 4 times, 1 very recent. I phoned numerous times and filled out paperwork and sent to Holly via email as she requested. The 3rd time he was there the paperwork had been lost so he had to fill it out again. Thank you for the answer. We will just continue to call the pro shop.

Because he paid yearly for a card for the past 24 years the same as a spouse would who is not on the deed.

"To enjoy the many amenities and activities offered by RCSC, please visit Cardholder Services, located on the lower level of Lakeview Recreation Center, where you can obtain a Membership card depending upon your eligibility and residency. Member Cards are given to qualified deeded property owners in Sun City, AZ. Privilege Cards may be purchased by qualified non-deeded residents in Sun City, AZ. Guest Passes are issued under specific circumstances."

I had a card I paid for when I was living with my mother.

Let's stick to the subject. I understand member and privilege cards and it doesn't matter that you bought a card when you lived with your mother. He wasn't a spouse. Why would he and not the next of kin get the refund. I'm thinking that may be the RCSC argument.

No next of kin for either person. Together 47 years, So all the gay couples living here who have privilege cards, or just family members who live here and have one should not? So if they do and pay for a yearly card in June, die in December they are not entitles to a 6 month refund? The RCSC disagrees with you. There is an actual form to fill out. My friend did get his refund, it just took forever. It is a thing. Why don't you do some research prior to spouting off.

    Responding to O &T,

Interesting…asking for a refund on something you didn’t pay for. Perhaps the non-owner privilege card holder is the executor of the deceased will or trust?

The property owner, deed holder, payer of the annual assessment, a qualified member with membership card access to all RCSC facilities & amenities and voting rights dies.

Someone who is not on the deed, does not own the property, resided with the resident property owner member. Has purchased a privilege card annually to have the same access to RCSC facilities and amenities as the resident owner-member, with no voting rights.

When the owner-member dies, the non-owner resident expects a pro-rated refund on the annual assessment the deceased owner paid??

***Apparently previous posts have confused who had which card, the non-owner Privilege card or assessment paid owner Member card.
Either way, it’s interesting a refund is requested unless there’s documented proof the surviving resident paid for the deceased’s assessment or privilege card, or is the executor.

Wow. You really know it all don't you? The deeded property owner is still alive. He paid for the annual assessment AND privilege card every year for 23 years. The person who died was not on the deed, did not pay the assessment, had no family. But I guess you know best. If I were you I would run, not walk, run to the RCSC cardholder service office and DEMAND they get a refund from the living member for the 6 month period the RCSC paid him. Just because the guy is dead is no reason he should get that 6 months of non used card money back. Death is no damn excuse.

I have heard if you want something to happen very badly it will. Did you click those Ruby Red Slippers too many times just so you would be right Chris? I am beyond devastated and heartbroken. I truly hope each of you gets to experience what this man had to go thru with the RCSC. You all are totally messed up. There have been ZERO positives for SC as a result of this blog. It's a place for you all to agree and if not call each other names. It's a place where all gang up on one person because that person doesn't like "the Boss", a place to humiliate each other. Chris you have been a busy little bee deleting some posts. I have them if you need them.

I am changing my mind about the T-Bird building, and will let the board know they have my support along with a bunch of golfers. I think RCSC should buy it. It’s only a possible $25-30 million to purchase and renovate, or at least that’s what I hear. That $20 million in deferred maintenance? Forget about it. Current residents are old and probably won’t notice the deterioration of the recreation center anyway. Heck, a lot of us have been here for 20 years, we’re tired anyway. RCSC must not think of the now. They must focus on the future buyers 20/30 years from now. Don't worry about current members, we will be dead anyway.

Karma is a bitch (yes Chris you intimated I am too, back atcha babe) and Karma can hit hard.

If I lost a loved one getting a refund of maybe a couple hundred dollars wouldn't be important to me. I'd probably just forget about it.
