I thought it would be fun to share some ideas I have heard on future amenities and get your ideas on what would amenities would enhance your recreation al experience. So here goes in no particular order:
    1. Converting the Lakeview Lanes Billiards room into a wild west themed sports bar.
    2. Setting aside parking lot space on certain days for remote control car racing.
    3. Dedicating several rooms for game playing (cards, mahjong, cribbage, bridge, etc) so that they can permanently set up with comfortable chairs and tables.
    4. Installing music themed light show on hilltop park to celebrate the setting of the sun.
    5. Moving the resource center to new building facing viewpoint lake
    6. Installing a playground for grandkids where the failed solar field is at mountainview
    7. Seek a parking variance for Marinette to allow the covered pickleball courts to be completely enclosed and air conditioned.
    8. Install a lazy river somewhere or increase water flow at Bell walking pool at certain times a day to allow it to be used as a lazy river.
    9. Add comfortable retractable seats to Sun Dial and convert breezeway into an outdoor theater lobby. Use it as our performance arts center.
    10. Enclose and air-condition patio outside Lakeview social halls 1,2, and 3 to create a large social space that could be used for special events or just as a cafe to lounge in.
I am sure everyone else has some great ideas so let your imagination run wild.

Time to finish MV and PAC. Git ‘er done! Will wait for reports due out next month. I do like some of those ideas though and would like to see a center built at Lakeview similar to the Peoria Rio Vista Center. What a gem that would be for Sun City. I mean really!

  3. John, you really are a funny guy and you amuse me. I do have some thoughts on your ideas and here they are, for entertainment purposes.

    1. The Wild West bar could be the only place on RCSC property where weapons are allowed and the place could be named The Bucket of Blood Saloon as a tribute to Mark Twain. Look it up. Actually the Wild West wasn’t that wild as the time span for cattle drives and mining camps was relatively short. Just saying.

    2. Remote control car racing, now bad drivers can cause crashes in a smaller scale for entertainment purposes.

    3. Which clubs and ant which location(s) are going to give up their space for this and where will they relocate? Maybe the property up for sale would be appropriate as each pod could be a different game.

    4. This is an idea I really like if I can choose the music. I envision starting with Eye in the Sky by Alan Parsons Project, then Voodoo Child by Jimi Hendrix, then Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin, then Thunderstruck by AC/DC, Born to Run by The Boss Bruce Springsteen followed by Legend of the Mind by The Moody Blues. Now that’s music.

    5. Resource Center, what’s that?

    6. Playground for grandchildren! If that doesn’t drive the Insurance Committee and our broker crazy, nothing will. The munchkins already have mini golf, the swimming pool and tearing up the golf courses in Grandpa’s golf cart.

7.Enclosed pickleball courts with AC, we would have to increase the assessment $100 just to cover the cost of the AC in the summer.

    8. Lazy river, when I read this it made me think of Sun Tzu, if you sit by a river long enough you will see the bodies of your enemies float by. I imagine some past and current Board members might get behind this idea based on that quote.

    9. Do you have any idea how retractable seating is stored and how, where would it be stored at Sundial? The breezeway used as a theater lobby, in late December, January and February? Maybe we should enclose that also for heating and AC.

    10. The area outside Social Halls 1,2, and 3 is a walkway. To enclose that area would not only drive the Insurance Committee, et.al., crazy but I imagine the Fire Marshal might have one or two thoughts about this idea.

Thanks for brightening my days, keep those hits coming.

I'll add one more. We could cover the Sun Bowl property similar to downtown Las Vegas. Not only would the cover provide shade the RCSC could start marketing "Concerts under the (fake) stars!

    Great ideas to consider after:
    • Mountain View and all other existing PIF approved projects
    • Deferred Maintenance (capital Improvements)
    • Five and Ten Year Long Range Planning to be presented this month
    • Honor member input from ASU Survey
    RCSC Long Range Planning Recommendations
    Subcommittee: ASU Survey (March 2024)

Here's a good one that generates income for RCSC.

Open a lottery ticket retailer. All lottery sales earn 6%. Winning tickets earn more.

Don't need a lot of space for this one and members wont have to go to the AM PM or other other sites for tickets.

  7. 3GenSCAZ, working with your idea with the dome, why not recreate the Vegas Sphere for concerts.

SCR, that is the most viable of all these ideas, although I still like the Viewpoint Lake music light show idea.

Since we're all just dreaming...What the hell!....how about turning a golf course into a go-cart race track? Maybe use electric carts to keep the noise down and charge outsiders to use! Lol!

We have too many golf courses anyway!

Oh come on Tom! Use your imagination!

Race teams sponsored by local establishments, OTB bars per HH's suggestion. Eliminate all that grass that needs watering, rent the track to outside groups! It would keep Urgent Care and the Boswell Emergency Room workers active. The list goes on and on! It's a win-win for everybody! Come on man! Lol!

Bumper cars in the parking lot. 1 teen night per week will liven things up too!

In item 7, include solar panels to keep A/C expense at a manageable level. Just a thought!

Linda, Thanks. Those in power will fix the squeaky wheel process after implementing the agenda that was created using the squeaky wheel process. We need to have the backbone to just say no to what came before and make a fresh start. We disagree.

Dave, I love your sardonic wit. I will keep those hits comings as you will see below:

As a fund raiser we could have a dunk tank to dunk the member you dislike the most! Do you want to volunteer? I certainly will.

    1. What would you like to name the pub? The disgruntled member club?
    2. We need to tell the RC yacht club you have insurance concerns that a boat may tip over and someone will drown.
You probably expected me to go on and on and engage you in an angry conversation. Dave, in your current condition you are not worth it, but you could be.
    Best Reagrds,

Thanks folks. Please allow me to explain why I went out on this "limb". I wanted to demonstrate why members are not willing to be engaged in the community. It is you. Everyone who saw this message had a non-volitional reaction based on their aspirations for power. No one offered any constructive suggestions because to do so would subject them to the criticisms of those that hide behind pen names. Really? One Day at a Time, Eyes Open, Geoffrey, HH, and others? Already addressed your issue with the fake name, mine at least. I guess you forgot, never bothered to read it, didn't care, whatever. Here goes again. Once you sign up here you are stuck with the name you choose. You are not able to alter it. Fake names here have been a thing since it started in 2013. I don't know why. If you look at my signature line my real name is there. As far as this post, from my perspective I, mistakenly so, assumed, my bad, it was supposed to be fun, not with serious answers. Should have known better. Maybe it is you as well?? Aren't you able to have a little fun?

  20. My name isn’t fake, it’s a real person, unfortunately he has been dead for almost 700 years. I can’t help my fascination with Medieval history. Try it sometime and see how it provided for today. John, this is where double entry bookkeeping came from.
