The cart and the horse (manure)

You have heard me say multiple times this Board, like previous boards, has the cart before the horse. I believe Gary Osiers article in the April 17th Independent (page 12) explains it best. In the article Gary explains that until an organization has a long range plan solidly in place it has no compass to follow and thus makes ad hoc emotional decisions with its long term funds that are likely to turn out to be disasters for years to come. Closing libraries, indoor dog socialization facilities, indoor pickleball courts and cat obedience buildings are all fair game. OK I made up the cat obedience building but it is not hard to see it happening. If this Board wants to break the mold it should hit the pause button and hire a consultant to look at the big picture (all of our recreation centers). They could then give us their recommendations for a long range plan and planning process.

Unfortunately, our leadership has a bad case of NIH and WKB so this will probably never happen.

Have not read Independent yet, but I am for exploring cost of indoor pb. What is NIH and WKB?
    Just wondering?

Oh, I see, so they’re staying with the 'ready, fire, aim' approach instead of 'ready, aim, fire' approach? How adventurous of them!
